News Powerplay 2.4 Un-Pledge Notice

powwer play merrits where broken from the start.

The retention of merrits is halfed for 4 weeks the problem is this should be a seperate calculation for each week
If the first week of merrits gained is not cut in half but stays at 100% of the merrits for the first week its gained.

In week 0 you deliverd 1000 merits this would give you a healthy start at week one
the 1st week you would have 1000
the 2nd week you would have 500+1000=1500
the 3rd week you would have 250+500+1000=1750
the 4th week you would have 125+250+500+1000=1875

This is with the standard merrit gains not counting the de increase of merrits per PP rank due to more merits per 30 minutes

This is how it is now i got 1000 merits now and tomorow is the pp tick it imediatly is at 500 and any gains added the next week your at half of that. this makes it imposible to retian anything.

The sooner they sort this out, the better.

I would love to get my hands on some of the nice items, but the amount of grind they ask for is ridiculous.

er, the thing then probably need to sort out, is the false assumption that its a grind to get access to those items:

1. you pledge to a power on wednesday,
2. optional: do a single task of your power to gain 100 merits for rank 1 on thursday, to unlock at least the basic benefits of beeing in that power
3. you continue playing the game as you did before for 3weeks and 5 days, ignoring powerplay alltogether.
4. optional: do a single powerplay related task once a week to get at least 50 merits to maintain your rank1
5. wednesday of the fourth week you invest a few more minutes to get the mertits to unlock rank4 with the next cycle
6. next day, you go shopping for whatever module you have unlocked

where is the rediculous grind they ask for?

It's in your #5. One has to put in more time than "a few more minutes to get the mertits to unlock rank4"

It only costs you slightly less than 700k, and then only about 140-150k net credits with the payout the next week, and two trips in an anaconda or any other trading ship. It’s really not that long...

Says the guy with all the credits to spend and all the big trader ships to make it quick. Think about the newer players that haven't reached your milestone. No, it isn't as quick as you claim for them.

if you can't afford a T7, you neither can afford most of the modules unlockable in powerplay...

really?
1500 merits over the course of 1 week?
come on, thats a single short range cargo run per day in a T7 or bigger ship.

The statement was "a few minutes." If that was meant as an exaggeration, I missed it.

Type-7 is a 17 million credit ship without upgrades. I didn't realize PowerPlay and the module rewards were only for the wealthy.

there are several ways to gain the tokens - thats just the fastest.
these days even i consider 17 millions for a ship hull rather cheap,

fully A-Rated the T7 is at 50millions, thats 3 times running the palin mission in small ship with 4t cargo space...

how far down in the low levels are you?

Speaking as someone who has unlocked Powerplay modules twelve times (yes, there aren't 12 Powers, ikr...) it takes me about 25 mins if I take the haulage option (which requires buying merits with creds) or about 50-60 mins if I shoot things (which is free and because the targets are helpless wouldn't even require a combat ship, albeit without one it would take slightly longer).

Festive greetings, one and all!

LOL I'm mostly set and reached most of my goals until FDEV adds more to do. I've done the PP for rewards, as well as for RPG, but I waited until I had the proper ships for the activity to be as fast as possible. I personally go the fastest route only on rare occasions. It's the new players that I was speaking for/about regarding the "few minutes" term used. I bring others into the game on a regular basis, even financing it - sadly, most don't stay due to the unrewarding grind while some have left because of the lack of in-game information (they refuse to use tools that exist outside of a any game, not just ED).

Some more experienced players would probably argue PP should be left to those with more experience and better ships. I tell my "students" that, but some people don't have the patience. Possibly what leads to their early exit from ED. I find experienced players sometimes forget their early struggles before they knew how things work in ED. If you've ever tried to explain things to new Cmdrs, you know you often have to repeat yourself. It takes time for some things to sink into our memory banks.

Not sure what ship you use to do the haulage option, TS, but 25 mins to haul as much as is needed for the module reward sounds like more cargo space than an Adder or Cobra has (1 example of some beginner ship). If you mean one trip, I think that's about right. I don't have the math in front of me, but I think we can agree it's a few trips in a beginner ship, so combined they take more than a "few minutes" to get to where you can get the PP module rewards. That was my only problem with what was said. I tend to agree with everything else that's been said of PP.

.

i did play powerplay 2 years ago, to get me the pacifier and the hammers.
if you play powerplay, it doesnt matter how small yor ship is, because you gain the merits as part of your powerplay activities.

if you did all that stuff, you would have corrected me by now, that you don't need rank4 for anything to begin with.
the Powerplay modules are unlocked at rank3, and thats a mere 750 merits, so just one run per day for a type6

I don't often correct others for typos or what I consider insignificant "lapses in memory" - that'd make me a hypocrite. ;)

Like I said, I don't consider PP to take a few minutes of time in general unless you've got the proper ship to do it that quick. We have digressed from the topic, though, so....

I agree with OP that there should've been more notice given.
