So if I turn in merits Monday night, leaving me with zero merits on Tuesday morning, I am going to be reset???

PLEASE CLARIFY THIS. What does "merits you have at the time" mean? Merits in my transactions tab? Or merits turned in counting towards my rank with the power??

I think it's pretty clear you will not be unpldeged if you hold any rank higher then zero...

ok there is no rating zero. I thinkt Sandro meant if you have one merit it's good. To be on the save side better cash that merit in at your next control system so it counts.

Sure, however the phrase "on your commander" was confusing the hell outta me. Because if you turn in merits, the merits technically "in your possession" in the transactions tab obviously goes away. Thus "on your commander" can be confusing. As the merits in the ratings page isn't "on you". Those are merits earned, but you don't have them anymore in a sense.

I think they needed to be a bit more specific.

Im in middle of nowhere and can not get back in time and I know I had merits for my power play so why did I get kicked ? I have spent a lot of credits on my power play and now out in deep space to get more credits so I could help out more. I been pledged for along time now and I do not want to lose that.I took a break with elite and come back to this. I had to repledge but I know I had merits left .

The thing is I had merits and every update I had pros and cons but never came on here and complained about them.
I spent more credits on my power play then made from power play and I never did power play to gain credits or shield.
I been pledged since 2015 to Aisling Duval and all that work gone for what ? Unpledged cmdrs did not do any thing.
For cmdrs who does not care and is not for the power play power this will not hurt them or does any thing.
If I Got kicked out then why do I have my weekly power bonus pay ? Which is 154,000 credits .
Which means I had merits and was at rating 2 or half of rating 2 . its not not end of the world but I do not want to lose my work for nothing.
Sorry but this is sad . so I would like to get back I worked for and thats it. Im not trying to bash or any thing.

I just found out about this...
You all could of notified us in game, much like the way you do when you announce server maintenance.

So now I have to re pledge to aisling duval (again) AND wait 4 more weeks to buy more prismatics (again)?!

I'm sorry, but not everyone comes here and no cmdrs in game mentioned this to me either..

You all should of given an in game notice and given us the option to opt out of our current power play or stay. Forcing players out was not the best of ideas..

I'm in the same boat. I haven't played in over a week due to work and now I find out I lost two and a half weeks pledged to Aisling Duval.

I went on a two week cruise to the Med... starting on the 16th of Sept - the same day of the Newsletter that mentions this and thus had no clue. When this took affect ten days later on the 26th upon the release of 2.4, I was still in the Med with 4 days left to return home. By the time I loaded up E:D, it was too late to do anything about it.
If my ticket doesn't get replied to and I don't get reinstated, I'll have to wait 4 weeks to get Aisling's Prismatic Shield that I would have got today (I've been pledged to her since day 1. Alright... maybe day 2, whatever. And I took a break from the game before this (hence why I had no remaining merits at the time, I always keep at tier 4 when I'm active for the 5milCR weekly wages) because I burnt myself out from the Engineers grind, now I come back to a kick in the nuts. lol).

Why would going on a 2 week cruise mean I shouldn't worry about a computer game? Computer games are what I do all the rest of the time.

It's what some humans do. You would likely think the same if "computer" was removed from your question and the game was D&D.

I recall getting pretty attached to a Paladin character I had. I was DM once when someone's high-level character died (he had a string of bad rolls and I had a string of good rolls) . He blamed me. When he was DM... well I think you know what happened to my Paladin. Haven't played D&D since then (early 80's) - and I still miss him. :'(

People get attached to all sorts of things others consider a bit odd. It's what some humans do.

So why when we “PP” do the benefactors benefit immediately while the benefactees (us) are forced to wait? It may sound trivial but I just finished all I need for the prismatic shields...shields that I won’t get to use for a whole week.

I hate stuff like this, whether r not it’s true, to me, this type of shenanigans feels like a stinky, cheesy, derived and totally lame mechanic intended to increase player time played...at the express expense of said players.

Unfortunately, there's quite a bit of that type of design in this game.

Yeah, I really wanted those prismatcs to help suffer the griefers in this event. It’s gettin alarmingly toxic out there, damn.

Been out in the black for the last four months. Just got back to Power’s home system to find that I am no longer pledged. Already disillusioned with power play, reading the comments here I realise that I understand the mechanics of PP even less than I previously thought. The only thing keeping me pledged was the increasing ‘time pledged’ stat (since the beginning of PP in my case). Now that’s gone. I turn my back on PP. Sorry Utopia, you’ll have to muddle on without me.

8 weeks later, and there are still some who just started to realise that they got purged?
wow.

its not that FDEV could have made the "event" to be highlighted to anyone who logged in after it happened,
or make it a question "do you want to be purged from powerplay because of changed PvP rules - yes/no?"

but after all, the PvP change was only a minor factor on WHY the purge was done.
