Yay SlackR, you got what you wanted :p

Whether it's because you shouted about it or they would have done it anyway, I'm just glad it's done

I don't think its because anyone shouted that it got fixed, but it definitely brought it to their attention. I wasn't even concerned about whether or not it would be fixed because Frontier are faultless in that department.

What irritated me (and plenty of others) is that it should never have been broken in the first place! The implications of releasing a broken VR beta twice in row, don't make good reading for someone so heavily invested in that aspect of the game. It suggests not enough time / resources are being allocated towards Rift implementation. Now you can get all high and mighty on this issue and say it is beta / Dev kit etc but I am unhappy about it. It is not in theirs or my interest to release dodgy VR... Even in a beta. Plus it meant I couldn't play for a week!

Without VR this game is just another game... And one with plenty of flaws at that...but with VR it is a magical experience. I mean just flying endlessly from one station to the next (grinding I believe they call it) is a joy because now you are actually flying! VR makes an ok game the best game ever made!

So I will continue to shout for VR implementation and enhancements because IMO Frontier are way too passive in their approach. It is currently their golden egg, but pretty soon there will be plenty of other gaming houses laying eggs of their own. I want to see them secure as much money and prestige out of it as they can before the big boys come to town. They deserve no less... And if they break it again you are damn right you will hear me "shouting"! ;)

Weird, looks the same as 1.3.4-.5 for me. But, that isn't a bad thing. It looks better in the DK2 than it ever has.

Please lord, let FD take advantage of the new SDK features to further the DK2 ED bliss. Thank you and Amen.

P.S. Please lord, make the Devs rethink PP. Amen.

That is weird ... Are you using SS? That is the game chAnger for me... X1.5 = DK2.5! :p

Fair enough. All I'll say is that anything can technically break in an update. It's not down to the thing's department not taking their thing seriously, it's just one of those things that happens along the way.

Agreed... So long as it doesn't happen again! ;)

+1 to the first part.

The second; Nope. Just plain old "ultra" @ 1080p. I'm running SLI 770's, so I'm not sure I can keep "ultra" and use DSR or SS and keep my FPS where I need it.

I heard that using nVidia DSR is better for FPS than ED's SS?

It's 100% the other way round. I'd even suggest toning down the graphics and switching off AA to hit 75fps at ssx1.5
That's probably why you aren't seeing the difference with beta 6. Honestly the text clarity alone makes it worth it.

Really? I'll try it.

To be honest, ED looks great right now. Text is clear and readable, everything looks great. Not sure I need SS :D

Manual DSR is better than all 3 for frame rates, but the in-game ss is by far the best visually. Makes the stars look small, which is ultimately what we are all aiming for :)

Update hot of the press I can confirm the extra window now works too will twitch stream (xPAINEx shameless plug) lave radio later tonight :D

This beta still does not work on the 0.6 runtime for me - was I misunderstanding the comments upthread ? Reverting back to 0.5

Yes. I think I mistook talk about 'beta 6' to refer to the 0.6 Oculus runtime - using that it a complete mess, I just get black screens on both my main monitor and Rift.

I have poo at the ready..... :D

It's running very good on the latest build of both the beta and the Oculus runtime for me. Surprisingly. I fully expected 0.6.0 to kill the beta but, was pleasantly surprised it didn't. :D

Running great on both "6" versions for me, both 0.6.0 and 1.3.6.

I think, could be wrong, that the reason you're getting dual black screens is because after updating to 0.6.0 ED reverts back to the primary monitor. That happened to me, I need to restart a couple times in extended mode (DK1 support) to get the game to show on my primary monitor, reset to secondary inside ED and then restart. At least that worked for me. YMMV
