I think smuggling does. Anyway you can test that when it's released. As you'll see your % in that rank increase.

but 'find x and bring them to me', if x is a commodity, has nothing to do with exploration. In fact, no mision at the moment are exploration related.
You need to go explore and sell data for that.
Actually the new find x at a uss (ie black box) do have exploration rank requirements to take the mission now .. Some are low of zero , but same are very bigh .. Like top 3 exploration ranks.

Didnt see that, does it then increase your exploration rank? Or is it simply a requirement as i would expect?

How far is 1.3 from release? I see a lot of progress i just wonder what the overall state of the 1.3 final is. :)

There are still many bug reports getting submitted.
They need to release it at some stage but I doubt it will be ready for next Tuesday.

They should do an interim update and release the 3 ships for everyone else while they wait for 1.3

-Players without at least a rank 2 in any of the elite ranks are not allowed to pledge

It may help prevent "Headless Chicken Syndrome" where new players instantly jump into a power and mess up their expansion plans :)
It'll also mean that new players won't be hit with all the power shenanigans out of the gate, they already have a steep learning curve as it is without getting involved in politics.

If that's possible, does that also mean that idiots / sabateurs can join a Power on purpose and then deliberately do the wrong thing to mess up their plans?

I have seen various missions with requirements of different ranks in different elite categories... and the ones I saw last night in B6 were not so 'ordered' as one my think, combat missions requiring a rank in trade for example, trade missions requiring a rank in exploration etc...

Still it does add nice variety to requirements and the ones that have higher requirements offer higher rewards so its an incentive for people to rank up

By the way, in the new system, do you need to have an interdictor to do missions? I've read that the mission targets may be in SC and not at USS, so does that mean you have to interdict them?

that can happen anyway once they have 2 levels in any elite rank... but really I don't think you can so much do the 'wrong thing' to mess up your own power, I will try and see if I can undermine my own power or 'foil' my own powers expansion system defenders in crime sweeps

I agree, there should be no scaling whatsoever in this game, it is supposed to be Dangerous.

That's not really how I see it...it's more like ships/commanders that are to "small" aren't worth attacking in the first place. If you are presented with a choice of pirating a Lakon Type 9 (with lots of goodies) or a small Sidewinder (with crap most likely), which would you choose? ;)

Generally speaking I agree though...there should be no scaling, but nothing is ever truly black or white.

Not at the moment .... Hence my question.

Completing trade missions will advance trade rank

Wonderful news, but could you clarify, please, which missions count as "trade missions"? I would imagine these are the following, but would like to see if we are on the same page - because I submitted this very issue and want to see if it is thoroughly addressed now:

- "Bring these X tons of good Y to station Z"
- "Find X tons of good Y anywhere and bring it to us".
- "Bring these X tons of good Y to station Z. Btw these are illegal."

Then there is
- "Bring this urgent package/message to station Z".
which afaik asks for exploration rank - will that advance exploration rank, then?

What about missions for to steal, missions to salvage, or asssissanations?

certainly do, they drop out of supercruise also though, so you just need to enter their low wake.
Haven't had one jump out on me yet, they really should know when they are in trouble and its time to try to leave.

Don't think they will delay 1.3 any futher. Judging by everything we are getting release tomorrow.

- Upped the value of total global bounty needed to make Bounty Hunters attack after a KW scan

Wouldn't it be better if having a set amount, it had a gradual chance of being attacked?
Your bounty increases the chance of being attacked
Your combat rank decreases the chance of being attacked
Having the ship damaged/shields down also increases the chance

So lets say you have a 20k bounty, but Elite rank, then most NPCs would think is not worth the risk.

That would surprise me, but it does seem like the crashing bugs have mostly been squashed, so there is at least that.

I had about 60000-80000 in bounties and that was enough for bounty hunters to attack me yesterday when I was clean in that system.

Of course,..nothings guarenteed. But only with a lvl 2 rank towards Elite...So maybe their not idiots.
