Powerplay : Commit Crimes in Undermining Systems

So I have a task to gain a bounty of 422,229 in a rival powers system.

I have started doing this in power Signal Sources in underminding systems usually geting a couple of hundred bounty for an assault and 5000 for murder.
After serveral hours of this, Im finding this slow to do and now boring.
I have tried attacking strongholds that appear to be undermind, but this doesn't seem to work. (bugged)

I thought the Assigned tasks were supposed to be fairly quick to do ?

Is there a quick way to say "Blow up the deathstar" and get a large bounty quickly?

Im not keen on PVP, but looking elsewhere Im not sure PVP is the viable answer either
My Powers ethos is not supposed to undermine by force and use social means, so im not really happy to do this ?

I've got 88k in bounty at the moment and had enough.
I would rather chase merits than bounty.

Anyone found a smart Bounty method ?

If you just kill enemy power ships, you won't get notoriety, and your murder bounties will stay small.

If you start hitting generic non-power ships (drop in on the nav beacon and kill anything Clean, say) you'll get notoriety and those murder bounties will stack up quickly.

Disadvantage: you'll then have notoriety and have to either wait it out or hand yourself in to clear the bounty.

(Or you could just skip that task this week, it's probably not worth the effort)

perhaps i have been too focused of power ships and not normal clean ones.
Not worth it......you are probably right.

I went in with the same mindset, but then I remembered they're weekly missions.. Supposed to last a while.
So chip away on then bit by bit over the weekend for example.. That's what I've started doing and I manage to complete them even if I can only play a few hours each day :)

Good luck CMDR o7

BTW: Found this out the hard way, killing system authority or defence vessels does NOT count. Zoned out and started deleting these NPCs without thinking much over it and racked up max notoriety and 10 739 400cr bounty for no reason :D

have you found an answer to this?

I'm currently at notoriety 10 and each NPC bounty is 3.7 million.

You should be able to one shot the bounty requirement at notoriety 3 (ish) so at most this task would take 20 minutes to do.
You'd think so but for mine, only 5k of the 3 mil would apply to the mission because apparently the bounty is a combo of a punitive bounty and the crime fee and only the crime fee applies to the mission

Dunno if I should say this.
If your just undermining a specific system this won't work. But if your just spamming power kills for personal merits it defo does.
And you won't get a bounty.
Find an enemy power anarchy system.
Drop 30km or so PAST the nav beacon point.
And have a ball!
Take out their fsds 1st to stop em jumping.
Type 9s type 7s and type 6s plus their escorts.
Quite lucrative.
Once again no bounties.
Someone asked how many personal merits per kill? It ranges from 56 upto 500+

Got the same task, and i am just skipping it.

Nope. ;)

Made 354,200cr of 384,143cr required for the weekly "Commit Crimes In System XY" task by killing protest busses (and a bountyhunter) through "kill passenger liners" missions in the respective system, adding 5,400cr bounty on me per kill.

{ "timestamp":"2024-11-24T10:00:20Z", "event":"CrimeVictim", "Offender":"Donald Duck", "CrimeType":"assault", "Bounty":400 }
{ "timestamp":"2024-11-24T10:00:39Z", "event":"CommitCrime", "CrimeType":"murder", "Faction":"Brihasatsa Exchange", "Victim":"Protest Bus", "Bounty":5000 }

When these missions stopped being offered, I went to the same system for "normal kills", of which I did approx. 8 adding a "normal bounty" of approx. 1.3m, but only added 11,500cr to the task-bounties getting me to 365,700cr / 384,143cr, which is a completely strange amount of approx. 1,400cr/kill.

It's not very intuitive and I don't think the game tells you anywhere, but the bounty on you head is the fine for the crime itself plus a sum dependent on the rebuy cost of the target's ship. The latter usually makes up the bigger part of the bounty by quite a margin. E.g. if the bounty on your head is 6 million credits, 50k credits are for the crime and 5950000 credits are the insurance cost for the victims' ships.

The assignment only tracks the actual crime part. So yeah, that's a lot of killing to do.

I did it by going into another power area. Landed near a base. And killed 201 NPCs by killing everyone, going to supercruise, and going back to the planet.
Took 201 kills to reach the required value.

So not only is it annoying to do, but it seems bugged as well.
I got bounties of 8,800, 344,700, 5,800 and 5,400.
Somehow those all total to 45,000 that count towards the assignment. I can't find any combination that works for that.
So not only am I beign "forced" to do stuff I don't want, just to not miss out on this powerplay crap but it doesn't even work properly.

Oh, and all the other weekly assignments were illegal as well, that's why I considered doing this one to begin with.

EDIT: I did not read the thread as detailed as I should have and seems someone else already posted experiencing the same.
But regarding zimms explanation. Not only doesn't it say that anywhere, it explicitly says the opposite. In my case it says: Gain a bounty of 432,229 credits. It does not say gain a fine.

Can confirm that this is bugged with evidence. I have a video of myself killing an orca, receiving a 300k bounty, then right after i took some screenshots showing the bounty and objective. The bounty increased, the mission objective did not count the bounty. The objective still says 95k of bounties while the bounty screen shows i have ~370k (well more than enough to complete the objective). I've literally never set out to commit crimes in my entire 10 year elite dangerous journey, and here i am, commiting crimes... and it's just not working.

Also of interest: the bounty decreased by ~30k after i relogged to see if that would update the situation. very strange.

Another side to this issue is that i could just go kill 10 pirates and get the same merits.... And get paid several million credits, as opposed to having millions worth of bounties to pay off and hours of notoriety to deal with.

If it is true that the bounty is mostly fines this is not what is being displayed or communicated to the player and is thus not working to our satisfaction.
