Hi, after a powerplay cycle do the merits you had last cycle always get divided by 2?
I had 10035 merits, now after the cycle i only have 4910. which is less than half left.

Correct, you need to get about 5500 merits every week to maintain level 5.

The calculation is actually absurdly complicated. A week's earnings (not total) gets halved and added back in to the new week. That continues, each week halving again, until after 3 weeks of halving, a particular week's earnings are removed entirely. So your 4910 is half of last week, plus 1/4 of the week before, plus 1/8 of the week before that. No-one has any idea why it was made so complicated.
