Pre-canned chat messages for Commanders

Although it is technically possible to have keyboards connected to all three platforms, the connection rate on Xbox and PS4 is very low.
For this reason, I think this limits the amount of Commander interaction when they meet in the void.

as a lot of commanders fly using either the Xbox or PS4 controller, can a series of pre-canned greetings or responses be built into the game.

... Not telling you how it could be implemented, but as a suggestion, is it possible to put it at as a series of scrollable responses at the bottom of the top-Left-hand panel.
On opening the top Left hand panel, from the chat tab, if a commander scrolls down to the bottom of the tab, the free-text entry field (which still remains) is then replaced by a series of pre-canned messages that a commander can select.

messages such as:

o7
Greetings Commanders
Thanks
Welcome
Give me cargo
Help
Attack now
Defend me
I'm not the ship you are looking for...

It will help those occasions, either in private group or Open where you see another human player but cannot coordinate the finger dexterity to send a message and end up just appearing to ignore them

Yeah, i think this would be cool. A lot of games are doing the whole emote thing but a handful of preset text options would do for ED.

I have suggested similar things in the past, I mostly think about how to proper play as a pirate and how to interact with each other in a "pirate" situation, regardless if is player or NPC.

So a bit how I see this working is we have different "notifications"....
I want to play pirate, I choose pirate and get to choose my pirate greetings.
Once I have started with this I then get pirate related options like drop x amount of your cargo Z (selectable from cargo scan)
Now the other party get my demand, and can now ignore it or accept, (which would automatically drop the agree amount of cargo) or counter offer, can I offer this instead, or offer a lower amount.
If counter offer is done, I get to accept this, (and cargo is then dropped), or repeat my previous demand or make a new demand...

As all of this is done by some kind of OSD selection, it should be possible to navigate these options by normal menu navigation keys. and still keep on flying.

Then we can have the "greetings" selections, where you can just say hello in various ways to other CMDR

And then you have the Combat related stuff, I would call these wing messages... for when wings do not want to, or is unable to use voice comms. So they can ask for help, coordinate attacks etc.

And the best part of such a systems, is that allows us to interact with people who do not speak our language, as these are fixed phrases, so you could easily as a German player select the relevant German phrases and send them to any localized version of Elite Dangerous, and you could work together, and there is no requirement for you to be able to share a common language.

I do not know how many times I have encountered CMDRs who have tried to greet me, just to discover this a few jumps later, now I cannot reply. With this, I would get an option to have "greetings" pop up on my OSD, so much harder to miss.
Pirate messages and Wing messages would always pop up on your OSD...

So I think the current game mechanics for Pirate interactions sucks big time, and how can you pirate if you cannot talk with the target? And having the stupid NPC pirates demanding you to drop 100k worth of cargo, what kind of demand is that, yay, my entire shipment is not worth 100k so what kind of messed up demand is that to begin with? And how do you know what your cargo is worth when you are in your ship? IS it based on what you paid for the cargo or what you expect to get for it? Someone had a serious brain freeze when they came up with this demand.
