Predicting the remaining dlc content

So, we are still discussing about remaining DLC prediction, right?
I think I have some ideas around my head…Ah, here they are.

1. NA Pack
-California sea lion
-Moose
-Puma
-Black-tailed prairie dog
-Tiger Salamander(exhibit)

Sea lion, a new diving animal.
Moose, because, moose.
Puma, yes another cat but it's more mountainous one.
We've got digging, so I suppose at least one more animal would use that feature.
And we don't have any salamander, do we?
Don't know we have a good 'theme' to have with 5 animals. Horizontal log walls maybe? I don't think we have horizontal log walls.

2. Aviary Pack
-Andean Condor
-Toco Toucan
-Snowy Owl
-Red-crowned Crane
-Not sure about the exhibit species, I don't think any bird or bat would fit in 4m*4m space.

Andean Condor, endangered bird and I heard about some recent trade of condor in my local zoo.
Toucan, a colorful choice.
Snowy Owl, recently facing danger and we need to know about that.
Red-crowned Crane, just because I like them.
This pack should bring some aviary building pieces, and I'm afraid they wouldn't be an animal pack because of it.
------------------------------
Below here is my hope, a hope that the game would be supported by the end of 2022.

3. Eurasian Animal Pack
-Amur Leopard/North-Chinese Leopard
-Red Deer
-Przewalski Wild Horse
-Raccoon dog
-Golden Eagle
-European Pine marten
-Great White Pelican
-Hermann's Tortoise(exhibit)

Man, even with 7+1 this is hard to select.
Well, Amur leopards are more likely to be in PZ than African counterparts, IMO.
Deer and horse to enhance some pleasant herbivores.
Raccoon dogs are quite different from other dogs, so I think they deserve a spot.
Very widely distributed bird of prey.
Another cute little hunter!
Some unique birds to spice things up.
Exhibit tortoise, I think this could work.

Europe and Asia already have building pieces to use and represent themselves. And I'm not sure whether they would be separate packs, so I just merged them.

4. Primate Pack
-Hamadryas Baboon/Olive Baboon
-White Handed Gibbon/Siamang
-White-faced Saki
-Black Howler Monkey
-Sunda Slow Loris(exhibit)

Baboon, one of the Old World monkeys.
Gibbons, I hope we have brachiation by this time if Frontier makes it by 2022.
Saki and howler are quite distinct New World monkeys.
Yeah, unlikely. But Loris are...slow, and would do fine without much space.
I don't think this to be animal pack. We might have some funny monkey statues, and some building pieces.

5. [Insert appropriate name here] Animal Pack
-Black rhino
-Capybara
-Nine-banded Armadillo
-Dromedary Camel
-Two-toed Sloth
-Flying Fox
-Sri Lankan Leopard
-King Cobra(exhibit)

Yes, this part was kind of a rushed one. I wasn't thoroughly sure what would this messy animal pack would be. Maybe this would be Endangered Animal Pack, and not the list I made.

I could support Eurasian Animal pack if 4 out of 7 animals were found in Europe. Other Asian ones could be species from colder or temperate regions. Smth like this :

Red Deer
Alpine Ibex
Eurasian Lynx
Arctic Fox
Przewalski Wild Horse
Golden Snub Nosed Monkey
Japanese Red Crowned Crane
Fire Salamander/Alpine Newt ( E )

Ofc Horse, Monkey and Crane with Amur Leopard are all perfectly eligible candidates for Endangered Species pack.

With all that said I would like to see strictly European pack ( with that I mean not containing animals not found on continent, therefore if animal from pack is present elsewhere ALSO, I wouldn't mind ) in classical DLC model with a lot of missing and needed classical zoo scenery and addition, nothing too theme-parky

2. Aviary Pack
-Andean Condor
-Toco Toucan
-Snowy Owl
-Red-crowned Crane
-Not sure about the exhibit species, I don't think any bird or bat would fit in 4m*4m space.
I can't imagine an "Aviary" pack (means a new gameplay mecanic of construction) with only 5 species. For me, it's at least 15 species and a price a bit bigger. However, for an exhibit animal, a Hummingbird would be cool !

But if we're talking about a "Bird" pack (no flying bird), it could make sense and I would love it personnaly!

Lets throw some wrenches in this mostly civil discussion with some cool northamerican animals i havent seen mention alot!

Black-footed-ferret:
A staple of american conservation efforts. Once reduced to habitat of just some footballfields it is now back from being near extinct in the wild to just endangerd. They have been reintroduced in many places and even recently been cloned! Also cuteness faktor

American badger:
A cute and fluffy small mustelid living in the plains of northamerica and another sign that german animals are cooler, right mr silver badger?
There european cousin might look more classy and is the more popular choice, but they are still a very beautifull and actually quite distinct creature, both in toxonmie, behaviour and preferd habitat.

Black tailed Jackrabbit:
A dessert bunny with giant ears, whats not to love about them?
As an alternative the Antelope jackrabbit comes to mind, but i choose the dessert rabbit with the larger distrubution.
Sorry antelope jackrabbit
1624471788779.png

Ruffed grouse:
A pretty medium sized mostly groundbased bird, thats not the turkey. What a shock.
I love my turkey, but these guys are common all across the northern parts of the continent and dont look to shabby either.

Another alternative would be the spruce grouse, but i like the colour sceme of the ruffed one more, as i would rather have the western capercaillie as a black grounddwellign bird, but they are excelent climbers, which would be interesting in its one right.

American Marten:
Just look at him. Do i need to say more? I cant describe in words how much joy this picture brings me

I doubt it. They aren't going to add animals that require building pieces, because building pieces can't contain animals without a habitat barrier used in conjunction. If we get aviary animals, you can bet that the aviaries themselves will be some kind of new barrier or facility, not a building set (and if it's the former, probably as part of a free update, which also means the DLC itself could include more animals).

Oh, yeah. I meant barriers.

1.- North America
2.- Eurasia
3.- Avian expansion
4.- Endangered species

5.- I don't think they will add this but I would love a pack of the top 8 most wanted animals requested on the forums (sloths, playpus,etc...) They could call it the "Frontier pack"

Looks like there are at least 2 more DLC's coming.

If you look inside this folder located,
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Planet Zoo\win64\ovldata

You can see to 2 folders (Content7, Content8) reserved for more content since folder "Content6" has the latest Africa DLC data in it.

Nothing too surprising there, really. They said they want make this "the best year for Planet Zoo yet", so it wouldn't make sense to end it half way through.
Mind you, I don't fully believe it will end after that. AND they said to shareholders they will support the game with DLC throughout fiscal year of 2022, so that more or less means no end before march 2022 (that's the end of the fiscal year 2022, it starts october 2021)

EDIT: No, started in April. Geez. 10 calenders, 10 opinions...

The key point IS that IF birds are actually coming, with Frontier investing a lot of resources to develop that, surely the company wants to capitalise on that?

From a strategy POV, there's no point in releasing a FULL new MECHANIC (i.e. flying) and not capitalise on it and just say "folks, that's it" - Flying Birds will be an ASSETT for Planet Zoo and Frontier will 100% capitalise on it.

Even though there are many content creators that are eager to see PZ dying (remember, some of them were killing it already this summer), I'm more and more convinced PZ will have a long life. The amount of DLCs they can release is practically limitless, especially if we get flying birds.

I think the size of the potential bird DLC will be the indicator. If it's only 7-8 species, then it's a safe bet that they'll want to keep on adding birds through another set of DLC.

You guys have very good points here and you make my day with it.

I started to opt-out more and more of content creators. I miss the community and I miss people I'd call my friends among them, but their views become more and more narrowed down to their bubble and it's kind of frustrating, especially when you TRY to show them diffferent POVs, the forums, etc.. The SEA pack really was a breaking point for me, seeeing how well received it was within the players community and the CC community mostly bashed at it and were convinced that Frontier made a mistake.
And with some CCs I think "if you think the game is dieing all the time, without having any other proof than steams engagement statistics, maybe it's not the right game for you anymore."

Anyway, I begin to think more and more that the remaining packs for THIS YEAR will be birds and some kind of continent. I don't know if it will be europe or NA or something completely different. I mean, we could still use some popular South American animals and that might be the perfect opportunity for an animal pack - maybe next round? I could see Coatis and Capybaras (as their sales driver) and maybe some small primates, now that we also have small animals in game like the fennec. With a potential bird dlc in decembre and the possibilities of aviaries, they might get a level up.

I know what you mean. I found their "the end is near" attitude kind of annoying, even though I generally enjoy watching their videos, about that time I mostly stopped.

Also, I like to take inspiration from them as they are very talented builders, but you can only watch so many videos without it being repetitive. Usually photos are enough for me to look at, dont need to see a whole 30minute video of speedbuilds. I would rather watching them actually play franchise or challenge, manage the zoos, look at some cute animals from time to time, you know, some gameplay. But they all took their speedbuilds low view rate as a "proof" that "PZ will be dead soon, look at MY low view counts!", while the Steam charts were telling us a whole different story.

So, I might as well throw my hat into the ring on this topic. Mainly to get it back on track.

September 2021: North America Animal Pack
American Alligator
American Black Bear
California Sea Lion
Moose
Mountain Lion
North American Beaver
Wolverine
Axolotl (E)

December 2021: Aviary Pack
Andean Condor
Bald Eagle
Rhinoceros Hornbill
Ruppell's Griffon Vulture
Scarlet Macaw
Snowy Owl
Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo
Toco Toucan

March 2022: Europe Pack
Alpine Ibex

Iberian Lynx
Muskox
Fire Salamander (E)

June 2022: Endangered Animal Pack

The thing with some of the content creators (who I respect and whose content I enjoy) is that they come from Planco.

In general, people who like themepark simulators also like zoo simulators, but sometimes, the extent to which they enjoy each game is quite different. I won't give names here but some content creators simply got burnt out pretty soon because they had already been building and creating content extensively for 3-4 years in Planco, or simply because as people grow up we tend to play less and less. Hell, one of the major Planco content creators pretty much abandoned PZ after just ~2 months.

On the other hand, there are also "minor" content creators who are truely passionate about zoos and have actually created a channel specifically for PZ and it's kept growing and growing. It's these people who'll help keep the game alive and it's these people that Frontier should mostly focus on from now.
The game to this date keeps being virtually limitless (from a content POV, at least), and PZ nerds like these content creators and most of us in the forum/reddit/discord are constantly requesting more features, animals and pieces.
I think all of these people requesting more and more should make a point for Frontier. Given the nature of PZ itself (not being a shooter, rpg, strategy game etc.) I don't see why they should stop providing content as long as it is profitable.
I don't think the engine getting outdated could be a problem here, basically because they're actually updating their own engine for PZ as we speak, and the graphics, wheather dynamics, etc. are not far behind the current best simulation or strategy titles.
