Prediction Q4...

I could be mistaken, but I could have sworn that OA metioned *things*-plural-that players have been asking for, so let us hope that its more than just a single game element!

More involved combat scenarios (akin to 20+ yr old games) such as escorting convoys through asteroid fields, including being able to have NPC Wingmen and be able to give them basic tactical commands (attack this/defend that)?

  • New SRV types? Skimmer Bike? Tank?
  • Flying in gas giants? <-- Not that we've been asking for it but that they're been talking about it.

Recent community guests have said there is something we have been asking for for a long time, which is in Q4 but hasn't been announced.
You know what? I'm not even sure what that quote was specifically referring to. Reign in those wild hopes people, I'd hate for disappointment to take the edge off what is looking to be a very good Q4 update! :)

The two things I really want are a Surface Reconnaissance Skimmer (or any surface vehicle I can drive in VR and not get nauseous), and a better bookmarking system.

I don't have much hope for the former but if the Codex doesn't include a better bookmarking system, or the existing system isn't greatly expanded, I shall be bitterly disappointed.

Oh, and a way to plot routes using neutron stars would be nice. I'm off for a visit to Colonia in the New Year, and I'd like to be able to plot my route without using third-party tools.

Logically, it's an extension to our airless worlds, something a lot of people have been asking for, and something worthy of paid DLC.

Planetary way point markers (probably not this as firing a probe around a planet is supposed to give us the location of interesting things)

Ah I give up guessing will just have to wait and see.
 
Some possibilities I've been thinking:



  • player owned bases
  • colonization via the BGS/Squadrons, maybe with player owned bases
  • BGS enhancements (dynamic population, dynamic economy, some form of pledging to minor factions - via squadrons?, directed expansion, etc)
  • New Alien stuff (obviously:D)
  • Missions overhaul for better overall integration and to take advantage of additional mechanics
  • Piracy/Outlaw gameplay enhancements
  • Changes to bounty hunting mechanics
  • Changes to CZ/war functionality/mechanics
  • Small ship content enhancements (missions, zones, etc designed specifically for small ships)
  • SLF engineering
  • SRV engineering
  • new SLFs/SRVs
  • Unlocking of Sectors
  • some form of CQC integration into the main game
  • surprise addition of hoped-for content (limited atmospheres, Open Only PP, etc)
