For a rainforest pack I think two animals are an absolute shoe-in based on Frontier's
modus operandi:
- Red river hog (comparatively simple to build out of existing pig rigs).
- Howler monkey (whatever the species, this one has been wanted for a long time by the community and can utilise the chorus behaviour).
Nobody will be able to convince me that macaws will come to the Walkthrough Exhibit though. I understand why the idea is appealing, given the way we received butterflies and the similarities between macaw species, but based on what we actually
know about the new exhibit animals I think it's safer to assume the only flying animals we will receive will be smaller ones that move quickly and a lot, not big birds like macaws that will look super janky on a loop and don't actually fly in captivity. For a rainforest pack, I would suggest that hummingbirds are more likely if we go for the five-in-one model. That said, there's no guarantee the walkthrough exhibit will be utilised with every new pack; chameleons are still very much wanted for the regular exhibits, so that's also a very real possibility (a smaller common species is the Jackson's chameleon; it's morphologically fascinating with its three horns, and can be kept in small groups, which suits the exhibit perfectly).
Other possible animals that I think are likely would include;
- Fossa (again, highly-requested).
- Forest buffalo (not highly-requested, but a decent captive presence and another 'easy' to make animal).
Beyond that I won't guess, except to say I wouldn't be holding my breath for more than one primate in a pack.
