News Premium Beta access update

The decision to provide beta builds to the Alpha players first is purely a dev on to give the build a quick run through before it goes out to a wider group.
Have you considered updating the merchandise available in the store? ;)

Ok I calmed down a bit and after the kind suggestion of others I reread the OP

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have played such an important role in Alpha testing, and I’m very happy that we will continue to benefit from their valuable input as they test Beta builds approximately 2 weeks in advance of release...”

Please note the S on the buildS. So EVERY beta build that will come out will feature this? For beta build V1.0, beta build V2, beta build V3 etc I have to wait "approximately 2 weeks" until alpha players have "tested" it for me? Oh what the...

Hnnggmmm...

Rrrwrraaaahh...

Njaaarrrrrrdd...

NERD RAGE!!!!!

Hi Mark

How does this fit with this statement
"I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have played such an important role in Alpha testing, and I’m very happy that we will continue to benefit from their valuable input as they test Beta builds approximately 2 weeks in advance of release"

If it is the case that it's a dev decision to provide a quick run through then why 2 weeks? If it becomes apparent that Alpha backers have no issues with the Beta build when it is released to them on the 16th of May will it be released to all Premium beta backers before the 30th of May?

Many thanks in advance.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how to phrase a reasonable, non-hyperbolic question. :)

Everyone complains that Beta is late, say that releasing single-player combat would be a good in the interim. When Frontier do it, there are complaints.

I suspect the 2-week period where Alphas get the Beta will mostly be spent waiting for Frontier to fix the obvious game-breaking bugs so that the Betas don't have to deal with them. It makes absolute sense to do it this way, with a good buffer for the first release at least.
  1. Absolutely no hate for alpha backers.
  2. Not everybody asked for a single-player pacifier.
  3. Beta will be 5 months late when *we* get it. Alpha arrived on time.
  4. Beta will arrive 2 weeks earlier if you are in alpha.
  5. That isn't late, it's giving it to someone else first.
  6. We were told it would be 'a matter of hours'.
  7. Not 'whining', just want what we paid for.
Hope that clarifies things.

I suspect those 2 weeks are either maximum, or it was meant for first build of the beta.

Otherwise giving beta to alpha testers for such long time doesn't make much sense - after all, we have to test scale of the game, both content and network wise.

There hasn't been a date set yet for Beta for Alpha players, first comes Alpha phase 4. Stay tuned for more.

Are we staying tuned for more details or are we staying tuned because there is going to be an Alpha 4 release today............ ;) I stand more chance of staying tuned because of the latter :D

Hi Kingston, the 30th is when we are aiming to have the first Premium Beta build for Premium Beta backers.

Excellent decision

There is some merit in eventually turning the single player combat training scenarios into a free demo of the game btw.

Hello,

As a Premium Beta backer like others who have posted today, I am looking forward to downloading the single player release. Do you know when the Launcher will be updated and installation can commence?

Many thanks
Regards
Chris

Do pigs fly too?

Some of the statements on these forums amaze me. You would think we were in primary school.

Is vanity more important than the roll out decisions by the developers? I am pretty sure that the developers are not trying to spite people.

Yes the Alpha came out on time in regards to the proposed date of December.

Yes the Beta was delayed in regards to the proposed date of February. Do you know why? It wasn't ready. Is that an acceptable reason?

How many of us really and truly want the best gaming experience possible as opposed to how many of us want to serve our vanity?

I like to joke around here and there but some of this entitlement mentality really irks me.

When people perceive they have been wronged simply due to the fluidity of developer decisions regarding their testing process. If the devs want to stagger Premium Beta access through an Alpha backer filter for testing what is honestly the problem with that? I'll tell you what the problem is, jealousy, vanity and a sense of self entitlement. That is the problem with all the fluff removed.

Grow up folks. I also hope I am allowed to speak my mind here without having to be too politically correct, God forbid if someone's feelings get hurt.

It would seem not I am afraid, the current launcher (0.2.820.0) still reports an upgrade is required to 0.2.881.0 and the latest new story is about Alpha 3.4 posted 1st April.

Hi Mark

Thank you for responding but that doesn't really answer my question.

If the Premium Beta alpha exclusivity period is purely a check of the beta builds to ensure they are OK for Premium beta backers and that according to previous posts from Michael that this is hoped to be only a few hours why does the announcement state that Alpha backers will get the Premium Beta builds 2 weeks early?
Is this a mistake and Alpha backer do not get access to the Beta builds two weeks early and instead get first access to the Beta builds on the 30th of May with Premium beta backers getting access hopefully a few hours later when it is confirmed to be OK?
I and other backers (as you can see from other posts) would like this clarified if possible as they appear to be conflicting statements (Statement A - The alpha exclusivity period will last 2 weeks or Statement B -The alpha exclusivity period will only last as long as it takes to ensure the build is stable which hoped to be only a matter of hours)

Many thanks.

Surely that's a mistake. I don't want that as an Alpha, that's totally devaluing the Beta peoples contribution.

I cant see how it is. We all know ( those in Alpha ) how some of the launches have has a few "issues" and weve not managed to get as much time as we wanted initially, but its alpha.

Call our 2 weeks - 2hours of "premium beta" Alpha 5 and everyone is happy.

Does not seem a big issue to me but the i did put my hands in mu pocket and paid the money for Alpha.
