Preset Power Distribution.

I would like to have it set to full power or sys or weapon with a click of a button, maybe even preset for combat, flight etc at vagarious increment.

I would like this as well. An implementation similar to TIE Fighter would be pretty cool. In addition, I would like to see functionality and bindings for draining my shield to boost my weapons or depleting my weapon energy to act as like a less effective shield bank.

I made macros for my HOTAS, and was at a loss why they weren't firing. It tuens out you need to program in a tiny delay... the macro functions of any programmable controller (including my x52 pro, the x55 rhino, my belkin nostromo, or my logitech accesories) plays the macro so fast Elite effectively "ignores" it. I had to manually edit the macro configs to say "push the button down, HOLD IT for like .05 of a sec, THEN let go".

I have a brief reddit post with sample code here: http://redd.it/2qn891

Ah, edited back to say: basically, you need to bind keyboard commands to align with these fucntions...

For example, my docking macro that plays out in an instant is like "T, Num Pad 6 6 3 2 2 3, T" ...target menu, right right down down yes down yes, target menu.... or whatever the key combo is, I made it and it works, i forget the exact binding off the top of my head at work.

Made another for weapons max, engines two pips that works, and another for engines max, systems two pips. You'll end up with a lot of secondary keyboard binds, but it works in the end. I never need to take my hands off the hotas, really, except to chat or exit game (and use my mouse for the galmap)

What are you using as a controller. It's quite easy to set up on an x55 Pro HOTAS for instance - there's a tutorial on here somewhere.

I Have an X52 pro.

I see. But I would like this option to be in game without me having to add code or program delays. Also, I am not using a mouse. Only X52 pro.

Or you can use Roccat grid, or voice attack. Lots of ways to achieve what you're after, but I agree, some presets in-game would be nice :)

I have all my presets running through voice attack. Your imagination is the only limit with that software. For example, I say 'Red Alert' Weapons deploy, power diverts to shields, and a cool little Klaxon play's... 'Configure the ship for warp' Flight assist switches back on,lights turn off, power balances and the frame shift charges...

Incredibly geeky I know :) but a huge amount of fun coming up with various combo's ;) I hardly ever touch a button on my HOTAS

Not quite sure why you would need to have presets? It takes less than a second to completely switch power states on the x52. Don't even need to look away from the screen. Maybe other control systems would benefit though?

I use voice attack,

I say - I get;

Full Engines - 1 sys, 4 eng, 1 wep
Full Defence - 3 sys, 3 eng, 0 wep

You get the idea, I have a few set up and a push to talk key on my F.L.Y.5 to give commends.

Didn't see your post suggesting voice attack...

But yea, and I've used the option to have it say stuff with my speech engine so when I give a command I get verbal confirmation back :)

Though I had to install new voices, Microsoft Anna sound awful.

[edit = spelling and grammar]

That sounds cool, but I have never used it. How does saying engine 4 have the game recognise that power 4 bars to engines? Is there a preset I am missing?

Because When I dogfight, I have full weapons when behind an enamy, than half engine when weapons are cooling and I need to get behind the enemy etc. Basically I switch alot between systems and clicking may be fast, but not always fast enough.

Start your macro with the 'Balanced' button and adjust from there.

I'm using the hat switch on my stick for power distribution, it's just a few flicks with my thumb. It would probably take me longer to say it, like some folks here do with Voice Attack, then do it. Not a dig at VA, I hasten to add.

Another Voice Attack user here. Not only useful, but adds a bit of immersion. Just don't use it anywhere public or you might have some strange looks.

And for those who say use a HOTAS for it: try it when you have both weapon sets blazing, are finessing the throttle and flipping between forward and reverse, and are both turning and firing thrusters. It's surprising how quickly you run out of fingers.

Thats what I have. But still sometimes over click things or take away from systems that I didn't mean to.

That is exactly my problem!

What can I say, those hours spent in the cockpit of DCS: A-10C sure do come in handy when managing the workload that comes with piloting a combat vessel, no doubt about that :) I don't use a lot of lateral thrusters in combat, though, mostly just for docking.
