Newcomer / Intro Preventing supercruise / frameshift

Hiyo.

So, I'm enjoying being a bounty hunger... but so many of my targets just supercruise away when their hulls hit 40%! I try the trick of flying close to them to "mass lock" them to slow down their spin up speed... but they still end up getting away.

Now I could use a wake scanner and all of that... but is that really the best way to stop it? I tried sub-targetting their FSD and blasting it... but I can't seem to get it below 90% (before they jump away)

Ideas / tips?

I'm using laser cannons if that makes a difference

You need improved speed and firepower. Many modules will help you accomplish both.

OP,
I noticed the fast jumping NPCs as well, it might be a bug or simply overlooked in game design.
We can't even go to super cruise when some ship is close, they simply jump to another system in seconds, even when you're close.

I said this in another thread already: This has to be addressed.

Imp firepower makes sense, how would improved speed help?

ISn't there a module to inhibit FSD? I thought I read so

Any ideas where I can find this? Doesn't seem to be in a regular dock...

just target the FSD drive and destroy it. If the target jumps away, scan the wake with a scanner, follow it and then pull it out of supercruise.

I have an impossible time hitting the FSD, especially if the ship is rotating on it's axis (or if I'm strafing around the target). But hitting the actual engine? That's much easier!

And if they can't speed up... they can't enter FTL :) Not ideal, but still better than just running away
