There's no way to make everyone happy. You gotta just make a design decision and go with it.
Its fine the doomsayers have reliably informed me that their conclusions are all based on less people playing ED than voted in that poll. So not only is ED undoomed but we've got a big old dataset to peep at.
11% want limited probes only, that's not divided its a landslide.
True, but what I do expect from the game is a certain degree of internal consistency.
While I do agree that synthesized probes wouldn't necessarily make their use 'better', it would be consistent with the other items that are most similar - namely - ammunition and/or limpets.
Its consistent with cargo loading speed.

Didn't you know? Polls are only accurate when you're in the majority. CLEARLY this is the work of people who don't even play Elite, all those Space Engine fans who watch Obsidian's videos and want more than anything for Elite to have infinite probes. And Brexiters too, for reasons.

Over 9000 people have voted now. And finite probes is down to 10%. Come on.
That poll was super accurate, me and the other Russian bots rigged it that way. Now we've completed operation comedy POTUS and broken up the EU we are bored.
unfortunately OA polls is not sharp enough to make a clear distinction.
"Limited Only" is now at 10% and "Unlimited" at 27%.
Unlimited was of course the more popular I already expected so, but I wanted to see the real difference from players that prefer limited ones.
I want limited and I voted for option 2 that share both options. I'm curious to know how many people voted with my same idea and so they subtracted points from "Limited Only".
I would be curious to see a poll with only 2 choices... not to exclude one of the two from the gameplay but to see where the players base stands.

I think Frontier should do the poll Not OA. It should be people who own the game. Not access by the forums or youtube. I think there should be more detail Poll. Take some of the ideas listed on the forum and on Suggestion forums. Vote on some of those ideas.

Before I realised the FSS (seemingly) tells you exactly which planets have features requiring the use of probes, I thought infinite probes sounded more sensible.
But now you (seemingly) know exactly which planets to use probes on, surely significant use (eg: hundred(s)) would only be a concern to folks exploring en-mass for CRs, or people exploring for long periods/journeys? And I have no issue with those category of people needing to support those roles (ie: by crafting or doing something to get more probes).
So at the moment I'm leaning back over the fence to finite
- The poll wasn't infinite probes vs finite probes, it was infinite vs craftable, which is different.
- Let's assume OA had put infinite vs finite. OA put in a "both" option which now makes it impossible to determine if, given a choice, people prefer inifinite over finite or vice versa.
- Some people won't have voted because it stupid to make a decision on something you haven't tried, these people are likely to bias towards the "better" option.
