Newcomer / Intro Problem with delivery mission cargo not in the depot for pickup

Sometimes there are multiple delivery missions to the same system so I'll grab two or three and then scroll up to the depot to pick up the cargo. At Lawrence Orbital in Nununni I keep having a problem where only one mission will appear in the depot. The first time I went and delivered the first mission and when I returned the second mission showed up in the depot for pickup. This last time it did not.

One mission was for tantalum, the other for another metal. The other one was in the depot, the tantalum was not. I logged out and back in. Waited several hours, nothing. I bought the two units of tantalum but it was not flagged as the mission cargo so that didn't help.

My only choice was to abandon the mission and pay the fine.

What sort of delivery missions are these?
Normal delivery missions give you the cargo - you don't have to buy it.

If you're talking about the ones which ask you to go find stuff then you normally have to buy it from a different station.

The missions belong to the various groups on the station.
A mission for that group only shows up when you select that group on the left hand side of the panel.

Not all missions have depots, but for those you can just buy the goods - but you need to be able to deliver them all at once. Mining missions work like that, but they're pretty obvious.
