Profit Calculator

There isn't a tool which will do exactly what you want: I don't think there's a difficulty in understanding what you want, it's just that there isn't anything which does exactly that, so people are suggesting tools which do something similar.

The best you can do simply is get the windows calculator app and EDDB together.
- use EDDB to find the best sale price currently catalogued.
- subtract the Galactic Average price (shown on the cargo reward - for Hydrogen Fuel, 113
- multiply the answer by the tonnes of cargo

This is the additional money you could make by transporting the cargo somewhere profitable and selling it.

(For anything other than Hydrogen Fuel and Limpets this number will be positive)

Here's my take on all this.

The mission generator is designed to make the 3 rewards generally equivalent. If you take the commodities instead of the cash, you get commodities that are worth pretty much the difference in value (based on their average price).

Yes, it might be possible to find a spot that's buying them for a really high price, and make a few extra credits that way. But it would be (in my opinion) pretty much a waste of time.

The game itself won't tell you where the highest price is. The out-of-game sites like Inara and EDDB depend on player-submitted data, which means they are unreliable and quickly go out of date. You'll wind up spending more time than it's worth trying to get a little bit more credits.

If you want more credits, just take the cash reward and then do another mission. That'll be faster than fussing around with the commodities.

Only take the commodities if you actually need those particular commodities for something (like Modular Terminals for the engineer unlock). Otherwise, just move on.

So that's my advice.

Have fun :)

Don't worry about credits. The CR economy is so hopelessly broken it won't matter if you make a bit less here or there.

Or Materials ;)
Depends. You can (possibly still) buy at ~2.4...2.7 k/t and sell at 30 k/t, so a profit of >27 k/t. Times 704 makes roundabout 19 MCr..
i don't think so tim:
