Project: RCT3 scenarios for PC

RCT3 to PC
Rct3's scenarios brought to Planet Coaster

The Project:
The main goal of this project is to being some new (or old) life back into Planet Coaster. Personally, I was a huge fan and
player of the RCT series, with RCT3 being my favorite. I will be accurately "porting" all of RCT3's original scenarios, starting
with Vanilla Hills and finishing with Paradise Island. This is ambitious, but I think its possible and manageable, and its something I could see
people really enjoying. I would also like to keep these scenarios as challenge parks, as I feel part of the fun is the challenge. However,
there are some obvious issues with this that I will discuss further down, some of them being; the lack of a proper scenario editor,
lack of rides that were in RCT3 that are not in Planet Coaster, Proper Scenario objectives, building boundaries,
and game mechanics.

Lack of a Scenario editor:
The lack of a scenario editor makes this task extremely difficult. One thing I do want to make clear is that I am aiming for a 1 to 1
on every aspect of the parks. There will be obvious limitations, some small and some more obvious, but while PC updates are rolled
out and with the possibility of mods in the future, I will do my best to update them to keep them as close to the real thing.

Rides:
Planet coaster has been out for almost a year now officially. While we do not have as many rides as RCT3 does now, I'm sure with time
that will change. If I find a ride that is not available in PC, I will do my best to find the most logical replacement for it, until a similar or exact
ride is implemented into Planet Coaster.

Money and Difficulty:

Because of how I'm building these parks (challenge mode) it's impossible for me at the time to adjust guest wants and needs.
This ties into the difficulty of the parks. I will build each park in a challenge park that is an appropriate difficulty for the park in RCT3.
For example, Vanilla Hills is the 1st scenario in RCT3, therefore it will be in a Easy challenge park. Box Office, the 4th scenario in RCT3,
will be in a Medium Challenge Park. The higher up the scenario, the harder the difficulty in respect to RCT3. Money is also slightly more
difficult to control. At the beginning of each scenario, you will have the starting cash that the park in RCT3 has, as well as the Loan
attached with that park, as long as it's possible through the difficulty, as certain loans are attached to certain difficulties.

Scenario Objectives:
This is something I have completely no control over regarding the lack of a scenario editor. While these parks for the time being will be
built in challenge mode so there is still a challenge aspect, I can not at the time make objectives. However, with each park description,
I will provide the original park objectives for users to "reach" the objectives.

Boundaries:
Again, pertaining to the lack of a scenario editor, I can't set real boundaries to certain scenarios. The park boundaries will still be there,
but you will be able to build past them.

Comments / Suggestions:
I am completely open to suggestions, and if you feel that there is anything missing let me know! Are you guys interested or not really?

Further details will be within the description of each park, as well as all the stats.

Notes:
-This is a 1 to 1 scale of Vanilla Hills.
-High Flier has some limitations because of the current state of the coaster editor... hopefully this is something I can make more accurate in the future. Its entrance and exit is modified because of this.
-Top Spin takes up a bigger footprint in PC then it did in RCT3, therefore the proximity to the outer fence. Hopefully in the future this is something I can improve.
-The prices for the rides and wages were kept to PC default
-The loan percentage is different from the original; again, another
thing I hope to change with a possible scenario editor.

The biggest missing feature we need is to have land purchasing and the ability to have oddly shaped parks like in RCT1/2, I hate how every park in RCT3 and PC are large flat open squares. Placing a fence as a park border is not the same as having park boundaries and land rights. Also optional grid features for terrain to snap to angles similar to paths (would make things a lot easier/faster)

Hopefully we can get a true scenario editor someday too [up]
heres a collection of everything form RCT on the workshop http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=883278649
and heres a collection of audio music files from RCT https://youtu.be/tJ2khNlfcJQ

Yeah I understand where you're coming from, but wuth the limitations I have this is the best we can do

this a great idea. I really don't play the management side of the game that much...but from the builder side of the fence...the reproduction you have done here is great - I love the idea of trying to replicate the old game.

Also - should this maybe fit in the Community Creations threads better?

Great news for me with the soon addition of a scenario editor! It’ll finally allow me to set all the parameters to what they should be, giving the maps the proper objectives, money, loans, etc. Thanks wow man! I’m really hoping this will take off and more interest will be shown once the editor is released.
Additionally - should this be moved to the downloadable parks section? If so how would I go about getting it moved there?
Finally, Vanilla Hills has been uploaded to the workshop. I am working on getting the next three maps completed, with Box Office, the 4th scenario about 3/4 of the way complete.

I really hope the scenario editor has everything we need like making objectives that can be failed, and purchasing land!!

by the way your entrance could look a little better https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=801385835&searchtext=rct3+entrance

It’s actually funny you brought that up! The entrance in the pictures was just a place holder, it looks much better now. Gotta update the pictures

as I scrolled through your post I got an immediate smile on my face when I saw the RCT picture. Looking at the planet coaster screens gave no emotional effect on me. RCT was intuiative and fun and I would play for hours / days even. Planet coaster is just overly complicated and frustrating and I keep thinking shall I play, nah I can't be bothered. No idea why you guys at Friontier didn't just update RCT with new visuals instead of trying to re-invent every tool, badly? Good luck with your project Hukk, hopefully the game will become enjoayble some day...

This is really cool! Just like BreezerHOG I really hope the scenario editor allows us to buy/set land, and as well things like time-based goals. If we can only create scenario's similar to what we already have, what is the point really of a scenario editor.

Thanks Chems! Yeah trust me, I can't wait for this scenario editor to release so I can actually port these scenarios over how I would like.
Time based goals and Land purchasing is a MUST in my book to be able to recreate these scenarios, but I'm hopeful It'll be included! [squeeeeee]

The only thing that I fell the devs still need to address is the state of the current coaster editor and security. Other then that, with the editor I'll be able to adjust scenarios to more balanced difficulties with the mamagement part of the game.

Edit: I will be posting pictures soon of the Box Office scenario that is 3/4ths of the way finished!

I thought of doing this but with some of the RCT2 scenarios. Really cool to see someone actually doing it! Great job so far [up]

Thanks ccfan007, Its not the fastest moving project, but Ill all be finished eventually!
Maybe one day RCT2 is possible... [wink]

I was hoping to do this for some RCT 1 scenarios. Its going to greatly depend on the kind of control we get with the Scneario editor. But im crazy excited about it

Fun project and amazing that I do recognize some of this scenarios. So many years ago I played them. [woah]
Good luck on recreating them all! ^_^

Just hard to imagine, some wants... with purpose.... build that square like .... in Planet Coaster. Never occurred to me to even walk that lane. Do I miss the old good square grid times? --> [squeeeeee]

Thank you everyone for all the support! Yeah, believe it or not, at first the project seemed simple and straight foward, especially since Vanilla Hills being the first scenario. Now that I'm doing Box Office; holy crap its difficult, especially with the whole Grid Issue!

Im planning on releasing Box Office soon, hopefully in the next couple days, with Goldrush! and Checkered Flag following quickly behind. I did it in this order becuse I felt Box Office would be the most difficult to complete, and getting it out of the way early would be a relief and give me more of a drive to complete the other two quickly.

BreezerHOG, thank you for the links! honestly thoes Blueprints are going to save me a LOT of time, and will hopefully give each of their creators more attention!

If you need a parkwide grid, just put 4 Wall pieces, one on each corner of the park. I think this could help to scale your recreation. Even for coasters, you could do some type of a chessboard floor with flat roof tiles to get an orientation for scaling tracked rides and coasters. Just an idea, maybe it helps a bit. [big grin]
