Proposed Colonization System Influence and Colony changes

This idea would require a restructuring of system influence into one that would requires different planets and resources tied to them to determine the outcome you would get.

For starters the planets themselves when you used a surface scanner would also show what resources were located where on the planet similar to bio. One for extraction/mining, and one for farming. Farming for example would have the best location for nutrients, access to water, and sunlight. While Extraction would show you where different resources were located. Ice planets might be locked to certain resources while high metal content might be locked to another.

Based on the resources that are being extracted or farmed on the planet. It would influence what your refineries or industrial would import from them and what they themselves would produce based on the resources imported.

Colony Ports and Outpost and Star Ports would then be influenced based on what you've built to become a economy. For example if you have Extraction Settlements and Refineries then your Port would be a Refinery. While if you have a Refinery and Industrial Ports it could become a Refinery/Industrial or in the case you've built an Industrial port the port could become Refinery/Industrial based on this setup or the prev. The same going for High Tech.

Also the development lvl and the amount of settlements of each type and population would also influence how much was produced. For example if you have an Industrial/Refinery Port the amount of refinery, extraction and industrial settlements and hubs would influence the amount of each that showed up. Having each be tied to their supply chain. Which could also rely on trade from nearby systems.

How each material fits into a supply chains of another product would depend on what the devs have in mind. And how that would fit into the overall balance and mechanics. Also if you place an Extraction on the border of two different resources it might produce a blend of both instead of if you place it on a hotspot of one where it would produce more of that.

There is a lot more that could go into this ranging from what if a player take a large quantity of resources and imports them to a settlement or port and how that would influence production to giving player a road map of how to make a system produce what they like. To what should be a separate idea of what NPC ships actually transporting the resources between different ports, settlements and stations. Instead of the docking and launching and super cruise that has no connection to actual gameplay mechanics. Basically a live system where all NPCs you see are effecting real things in game from resources available to prices rising and dropping at different stations.
