PROTIP: If you don't like the game in it's current state.......

That's fine there are many good points made by players but here is a solution.

Play something else for 6 month then come back, we will still be here enjoying the game without you and look forward to seeing you then. You have already bought it so there is no cost so just wait it out it's going to be ok.

I would suggest signing up to the dev email and maybe pop into the forums to ask questions

But for goodness sake don't play it if you don't like it where it is currently because that will just make you hate it more.

Hope to see you then.

Indeed. Thats the way rather than feeling let down every day. If you feel its not good enough at the moment just pop in once in a while to see where its heading, suggest improvements and chill out and do something else.

I play a little less atm as im waiting for "Wings". I play almost everyday, but if i had a couple of features that i want i would play constantly cause ED is an awesome frame to be filled with more awesome stuffing. So instead of pushing too hard, and think things are missing, i cut the play time down a bit and do something else in between. This keeps me happy which is the most important thing to me. We all want Elite Dangerous to be the best game ever created, and we all have ideas on what that means and how it is achieved, but in the end all we can do is suggest and see what FD does. If you believe FD will fill ED with more goodies then make sure to buy the expansions and support them so they can. I know i will.

While I don't ever really condone complaints about a game on forums (as an ex-dev forced to read them all day. :p ), I don't mind when they are raising valid points about a mechanic or feature that is causing the game to be less than enjoyable.
Most people play a game because they love it or want to love it, and often complaints are just raised because they want their beloved game to be even better. Which is a good thing.

Other times, people just want to let of steam after being outplayed / beaten by someone / something. And that's fine too.

In any case, people will always find "something" to complain about, because people like seeing a game evolve and change, but even more so if they think it will benefit them.

So basically...

"He who complains the loudest..." etc...

Yea but unfortunally nobody who is complaining considers it.

Yep that would be great. I would like to have discussions about Elite in this forum and read/post suggestions for further improvement. I also like to hear your stories about what happened to you.

What I dont like are those "THIS GAME IS SO BROKEN", "I FEEL BETRAYED", "WHERE IS PROMISED FEATURE X/Y", "100 REASONS NOT TO LIKE ED" threads. Seriously, nothing against constructive criticism, but please do a quick forum search before you start your rant thread and consider to post your issues in a civilised manner.

Ill conceived moans do indeed suck, condescending and holier-than-though preaching about how we should use the forum suck even more.

So, you buy a defective car and you call to your local car salesman to complain about a low quality product. He then answers you that there is going to be a fix in a year or so. In the meantime go buy another car, use the bus or just walk more. This would be an excellent moment to think of your PROTIP. Way to go

this is a flawed analogy.

I have hundreds of games.

How many cars do you own ?

PLUS - I've bought many games for £40 that were rubbish....and they didn't ever get better....there was no further development. But hell - its only £40 quid, so I don't mind.....I'll do better research in future before buying.....the fault is entirely my own.

I think that that is an unfair comparison as the game is a passtime for you to enjoy and if you don't enjoy it, do something else for now but do return which is what the OP was saying and is a valid comment while your example is something that may be needed rather than used as an option and therefore a better example is needed.

I actually have, like a few others, the opposite problem, in that I want to play more but lack the time.

There's always a lot of talk about being an '84, but I was a '95 too. If there was ever a botched launch it was that. I remember being sent patch disc after patch disc because the game wasn't playable out of the box. It took nearly a year before most of the serious bugs were ironed out.

So far, as Elite sequels go, E: D is pretty good and it's a testament to its current state that I've not touched another game since the start of Gamma.

I never said that i am bying a car to make a living. Supposedly i am a very rich guy and i bought this ferrari cause i wanna have fun. If there was this guy in the other end of the line telling me that i am not gonna have what i have paid for, then i would be angry. Now, this is a product and in civilized countries there are rules about products that do not meet qualification criteria. In this case everyone is expecting a "breathing, living galaxy". It's not there, so everyone except a few are complaining. It's the least they can do and they have every right in doing so untill they get what they promised for. You know, in general, people are not irrational.

We have all been in other games forums. I am talking about excellent and succesful games. I have never witnessed such a plethora of people complaining about non-working features. In fact the whinners are just a minority which is rather acceptable.
What you are trying to say is that this is an excellent, finished game that some people enjoy it and others not . Well, the amount of people complaining in this forum shows otherwise.

So i ll invert the OP's opinion and i ll offer you my protip. If you do enjoy this game at its full extent and you do think that it works properly(which is weird at least) then please dont participate in the forums for a year or something till they fix all the anomalies and then i promise you that you ''ll never hear from me or others that just want to have their share of fun.

Suggesting the player base to half themselves (if not way more) only because you don't want to see angry topics on the forum.
(Pro tip: Official forums are made for the only purpose of lettin people vent their unsatisfaction and calm them down keeping them as users (and buyers))

Tell me, are you a wizard?

I don't think its a flawed analogy to expecting to buy a complete product on release, its become a trend recently to use the paying customer as a beta tester thats kind of hard to avoid as they all do it to some degree or other. Luckily with games you can wait 6 months and come back but for many, and myself included despite all the fun i'm having, if its great in 6 months i'd rather they had waited 6 months to release it.

For me I can't stand wasted potential, and like it or not on release your game generally becomes known as something great or something meh not 6 months or 12 down the line. sometimes you can get a second chance to rebrand with the release of a major xpac but generally the first 2 weeks define your game forever. As It is this is the best shallow game i think i've ever played, I love it, but i'd have to blind to not see how much more It could have been and that narks me in a way.

So expansion addons will be free? :D

For me they will. Bought the All You Can play option some time ago.

What I don't like is people banging on about absolutely basic and built in facilities like mode switching just because it offends them in some way.

Maybe the can put in a whiners /ragequit section here so we can keep them all populated in the same area the games a diamond inthe ruff not yet polished but good and only going to get better

This is pretty much what i'm doing. I'm burned out but i know there is tons to come so i just log in once in a while to do a rare trade run to build up my cash. by the time new stuff come out i'll have a cool 30mil to sit back on. I know it's not much but for me it's something that can last a LONG time:p.
