Engineers Proto Heat Radiators — Best Current System?

I'm currently planning to engineer my ship's weapons, and I need a LOT of PHRs. I've used the spread sheet but I'd rather skip the guessing and aimless searching when I can just ask if anyone knows where the best specific system would be to look for them.

In other words, if you found a lot of them, where were they?

There is no "best system" because what HGEs contain, and their ability to spawn, is predicated on system state, which is constantly changing.

You will find Prot Heats in any system in Boom, however you can narrow the spawn pool by going to an Indi system (as Fed systems will also spawn CDC and Prop Comps, while Emp will spawn Imp Shielding). There's conjecture that spawn rates are linked to population, so general consensus suggests jumping a few extra LYs if it means a higher system population. Use below, find your system.

I Carinae did it couple days back. There is no best, but I aim for the max population, right states and high security. As close to my location and single star. Fly out at least 500 ls from the star, throttle down to 10 eyes open for any uss. As soon they start to spawn, check them out and the frequency. If they are not hge and the frequency is less than couple in a row, move out up to 1000ls, 2000ls. If the frequency is good, circle around that distance. Hge should appear. When it does, collect, relog, circle at that distance. Hge will appear again eventually. Good luck

I Carinae is definitely the place to be! Every HGE I've found had what I needed.

Can't say I agree with your method, though. I found just as many HGEs flying in and out of the system, perpendicular to the orbital plain. I basically just shot straight out away from the star, then at about 2000Ls, I turn around and head straight back, shooting past the star and out the other side of the system. I tend to vary my speed, as going really fast, or not moving at all, seems to produce USSs regardless.

All in all, I think it's just completely random, the only requirement being that you be in Deep Space.

Because Sol is currently experiencing a Boom state, which means its HGEs may contain Proto Heat, Proto Rad and Proto Light mats, in addition to the CDC and Prop Comps that a Federally aligned system can innately spawn. Someone else went to Sol last night and got 50 CDC, someone else got 50 Proto Lights. RNG is RNG.

If you want CDC, go to a Federal system in None/Election state, you'll increase your odds by 150% (which means you'll probably get 50 Prop Comps, because RNG).

I tried Sol a couple of days ago but wasn't having much luck with HGEs, only had about 2 in half an hour, and it was being massively stingy with the CDCs (only one? C'mon! Rage!). So I tried Groombridge 1618 and after a short while had so many PHRs I could do the backstroke in them.

I visited the Khepri system just now, independent system, 23B population in a Boom state. Got 54 proto heat radiators in 50 minutes, which is a pretty good haul in my book.

Can anyone tell me a good BH/CZ system for Proto Heat Radiators? I find just flying around for an hour too mind-numbing, need to make some creds and kill stuff (MEF in massacre missions!).
