PS4 account logged into PC

Hi all,

I recently double-dipped on Elite Dangerous because I was finally able to build a gaming PC. When I bought and installed the game I logged in with my Frontier account I previously set up for PS4, then I assume it linked my Steam account to that.

I thought I'd be able to make a new CMDR once I booted up, but I was surprised to find that I instead logged in with my PS4 character. I seem to be able to play, but I haven't left the station yet to see if it would really work without crashing.

I'm not able to add any of my Steam friends in the game, and I don't see see my Steam account linked under "Steam entitlements" or "Third party apps" on the Frontier page.

I had hoped to transfer my credits to a new a PC CMDR, since I heard there was no crossplay. Is this normal? I thought you could've had at least one CMDR per platform, but it seems like I have one CMDR on PS4, that's linked to my PC / Steam.
Also even though my PS4 Frontier account is linked to a certain e-mail, I'm not able to sign in using it, only through the Steam Login. Was hoping that would fix it and allow me to create a PC CMDR but no dice.

It's a bug. You aren't supposed to be able to log in with an account created on another platform, but since the segregation seems to be an arbitrary one, the saves aren't actually any different so occasionally work if one tries.

The assumption is that you'll make a new account for a different platform, not try to log in with the same credentials. You'll probably want to file a support ticket and have them straighten things out so you don't wind up breaking your PS4 account.

Thanks! I had a feeling it was, but wasn't totally sure.

I've sent in a ticket already, but posted here just in-case someone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it.

The saves being workable begs the question however, if they're virtually the same and are readable on PC then why is only money transferred over? Why not everything such as ranks, ARX, and ships / loadouts?

Perhaps it's a balance issue.

I don't think it's a balance issue...we all share the same BGS, modes, and have access to the same stuff (excepting a few Cobra Mk IVs) anyway.

Either it's a licensing/crossplay issue for Sony and Microsoft, or it's something they plan on monetizing in the future.
