Coming back to ED after like a year hiatus, only played a bit when I did play but really enjoy the game. What's the population like nowadays on the ps4? Is it worth really sinking in? Compared to the PC version is the lack (if there's a lack) of population or other factors make gameplay between Ps4 and PC any different? Nice to be back, and nice to meet you all. Flying around in space feels really good in this game.

I dunno we're sstill here - I guess depdens if you get involved in an active meet-up group or not - I like flying along by myself doing my own thing so i don't care one way or the other.
You see people in the busier systems like Deciat, Shinrarta, and Borann (at the moment), but otherwise you don't see too many. Once CG's and II's return you'll be able to find larger groups. At least in Borann PVP piracy is actually a thing for right now. Which will change in June once the FC update drops
I don't actively look in my PS4 account but might suggest checking out the Mobius Elite Dangerous PVE group on the PS4 with 40,000 members. Their chat group on the PS4 is pretty active. Still 40,000 members doesn't mean a lot if many joined, played ED for awhile then moved on to something else.

The population is falsely active right now... The update emails about the beta have worked and made players wake up to the game again...
This activity will continue till after the Beta version on PS4 in May is over and then the reawakened users will likely drop back off again after june updates...

I dunno. I barely see more than one other player whenever I go back to Jamerson anymore. Back over a year ago I would usually see 7+ at the station and even get interdicted by some wannabe ganker. I think most of the remaining players are explorers so you'll never see them.
Also I'm pretty sure FDev stated CG's are done forever. They are not coming back along with Galnet not being updated anymore.
Gone in there past forms yes.. yet another rebuild and release of another social activity if they want to will be returned when Fdev want it to return...
If you go to a mining high price selling station and park up youll find player squares icon and players showing up on the contacts lists...
Can't try the FC owners options if you don't have that 5.5Billion...

This is FDev we're talking about. We'll see a CG replacement in 3 years......but seriously the earliest we'll see it is probably the big end of the year update.
Ugh, I hope not. I'm hoping they'll restart Goals and Initiatives(and Galnet) after the FC update is finished getting patched... but as you say, it IS FDev
Having just joined mobius it seems like there are multiple servers. I am in pve3 every time I log in it says there are 517 members
From the sounds of it, there is still a bit of a community. That's good to hear. I really dig flying around space and just enjoying the feel of the game.
There are. I usually have 3-10 contacts per session, depending on what I'm doing. No need for Mobius, the PS4 community has very few gank issues, which are easy to avoid.

I was online with three other commanders yesterday. The other three however were in the bubble and I’m still out between Sag A* and Colonia. We used party chat and was pretty cool, helped each other out a bit.

GamStat says total players = 370,000 monthly active players = 17,000 players. Usual caveats on how they collect info applies.
I know my issue is timezone - NZ. Most everyone in Europe is still asleep when I'm active - unless you're an early morning gamer.
