[PS4] Support for Color Blindness (all platforms in general)

while tweeting with @Frontier_Help they suggested to add this to this part of the Forum:

I would be greatly appreciated by me (and probably a lot of other players too) if Support for Color Blindness would be added to the game. Hud Colors should be changeable as for example i have a problem with Reddish-greenish colors and a lot that is in that range, the orangish tones of the hud really do a number on my eyes after a while and for example a blue-toned HUD would be much easier on my eyes.

I understand that on PC this can be done via tweaking some values in a config file or something like that but on Consoles this is of course not possible, so the only way to achieve this feature would be if FrontierDevs would officially add it to the game :/

The Battlefield series for example has this feature for a couple of franchise-entries already and made it a standard in their games. More Devs should follow that route and think of players that have this disability.

It would be HIGHLY appreciated... and not only by myself!

cheers!

A idea is look into the color blindness glasses. You be able to see color and such.

This is incorrect and extremely simplistic. First of all colour blindness is most often not an inability to see in colour and for those who do have total colour blindness those gimmick glasses will not allow them to see in colour. The majority of colour blind people can see colour but distinguish it differently than others. The most common type of colour blindness have difficulty discriminating between hues of red, orange, green and yellow.

In regards to Elite Dangerous: The hud is various hues of red, orange and green. I've been told that there are several different shades used to show if a ship is hostile, neutral, friendly or allied but I have not seen this. In my particular case hostile, neutral or friendly ships all appear the same to me (as orange) and allied ships are lighter (as green)

I too would love if there was an option in the graphics settings to switch the hud from red, orange and green to a high contrast red, blue, yellow scheme.

Question are you color blind or not and have you tried the glasses or not? I seen many people who tried those glasses and they have improvement.

Yes I am colour blind and no I have not tried the glasses because I'm not someone they will help. The glasses are not a universal cure; they only help some people with mild to medium forms of red-green colour blindness see a greater range of hues by blocking certain wavelengths of light. This means that while you can determine the difference between some hues better there are some that you see worse! Yes if you give the glasses to someone with the type of colour blindness they can assist with and have them look around the garden they'll see somewhat more vibrant colours so you'll get nice youtube clips. No those glasses won't mean they can accurately distinguish between all hues with the same accuracy as someone who has no colour vision deficiency.

TLDR; instead of selling $75 glasses to help some people with colour blindness add a second colour scheme to the HUD which is different enough for those who have trouble with the current scheme and help a larger % than the glasses alone.
