PS5 not able to play with PS4 friends

Started up Elite on the PS5 this morning and had the chance to play with a friend who has a PS4.
I wasnt able to see him in my friends list even though he was online in open. I also wasnt able to see him on the galaxy map.

He sent through a wing request and I received a notification in my "open chat" but no actual notification to join his wing.

Can confirm wings work PS4 to PS5 for me at least:

PS5<->PS4 Wing play works for me, OP.

You might want to reboot your router - uPnP getting confused can cause the behaviour you've reported here.

It works,I have a friend in UK he has the PS5 I have the 4,we could play together in Wing,we could see each other in game,and we were on Party as well,add to that he plays through his Smartphone connection (5G for what it counts).
