Engineers PSA: 2.3.10 broke EFC, CIF & Biotech missions but Frontier are fixing it - Dev Quote

I'm posting this as a new thread because there are so many other threads in which otherwise users will keep asking the same questions, understandably:

Hi all,

Yes, this is bugged again.

I know what is wrong and am working to get it back to working condition as soon as possible.

As a bonus, I'll see to getting Basic Conductors, Crystal Shards, Tempered Alloys, Heat Resistant Ceramics, and Unidentified Scan Archives removed from the reward choices (these are no longer used in any recipes and I already have clearance to remove them).

I'll also ask about making MEF a mission reward (I don't think it will be a problem, but haven't got clearance yet so no guarantees).

Thanks,

Dom

As ever, Dom's engagement with the player base via this forum is amazing, o7

I don't know what to think about this, having to get "permission" to correct an obvious deficiency.

Does that sound odd to anyone?

Is there s delegation of responsibility missing here or a micro-managing situation internally?

My opinion only, yours may vary.

Just hope that CIF and MEF see the light of the sun soon.

Thank you for the PSA. This is good news. Hopefully, MEF will be allowed into the reward tables. I don't ever need it since bases throw it in my face when I ask for CIF, but it'll be nice for everyone. :3

Hi there,

As a programmer I can't make design decisions without approval from design.

I have gained permission, so they will be coming back soon.

Thanks,
Dom

Thank you for the direct reply, it is kind of you to do so.

My only concern was that this was/is a long standing issue and a bottleneck to some of the most desired mods available.

CIF is not rated as a "very rare" item but has been quite difficult to find and belies the rating.

I don't believe that CIF is a new item and that it apparently changes in it's availability seems to infer that there's a dynamic involved somewhere that we players aren't privy to.

As it should be, it is FD's prerogative, of course.

Thank you again.

Do you know why FD shy away from posting and communicating with us sometimes?

When they give us helpful updates about ED,like above, and all we can do is nitpick pathetically at it just to make a point.

Wow getting MEF as a mission reward is quite a big change. I thought they were only obtainable from data-point scanning.
MEF are required for a number of Grade 5 overcharged weapons and I had actually written off being able to get them (at least for the time being) - 'cause I failed to 'git gud' on that particular activity.
Surprisingly I find myself not really wanting them as mission rewards - since this significantly reduces the reasons for engaging in that area of gameplay. Oh well...

@Eminor, if you check out this:

Jason, I get MEF's regularly using either of the two base scan methods outlined in this thread (@Mystweaver's risk-free one, or @fuh's one where you have to fight, see last page of thread).

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/325102-Cracked-Industrial-Firmware

Unlike CIF they seem to drop regularly. (Useless to me, sadly, as I don't like overcharged and have no current use for double-shot.)

... it links you to a thread with two base scanning methods in, with lists of the locations of the bases in question.

The first one (M3M bases) does not require gitting gud at all, you just drive around the same docile base scanning the external points with all the time in the world.

The second one (S4H bases) requires you to fight for your MEF. Both, however, yield it reliably.

Ah, thanks for that information - that is appreciated. I didn't realise some of them were not timed (that was what was causing me problems).
The last time I tried data-point scanning to get MEF, I found 0 MEF, 2 rebuy screens and myself being wanted in 3 systems...
