Engineers PSA - Engineer reputation gain percentages

So I have been leveling up my engineer reputation by doing mostly worthless upgrades and here are some interesting percentages you guys may find useful.
The level of reputation you get with an engineer depends on your reputation level and the grade of the upgrade that you do. So...

if grade of the modification = your reputation level with the engineer - 33-34% increase
if grade of the modification is 1 less than your reputation level of the engineer - 8-9% increase
if grade of the modification is 2 less than your reputation level of the engineer - 2-2.5% increase
if grade of the modification is 3 less than your reputation level of the engineer - have not tested, but I suspect it will be less than 1%
if grade of the modification is 4 less than your reputation level of the engineer - your engineer is rank 5 already lol

Going by this we can conclude that it is not too difficult to get any of the engineers to reputation rank 3 by using grade 1 modifications. Getting the engineer to rank 4 will require a lot more work, so you may have to rely on selling exploration data / commodities / bounties and doing higher grade modifications with them. A lot of Grade 3 modifications may be worth the trouble and will give you a nice 33% increase towards rep level 4.

Have you any stats on how many credits of exploration/bounty will increase your rank?

I turned in ~500k in exploration at Farseer and noticed no change. At Tod's base I turned in ~100k in Alliance bounties, again no change. Am I not doing enough or something else?

Tod is known to be broken. There are multilple posts about it. Recommend submitting another bug report.

For exploration data: usually have to logout after turning it in see the effect.

My only point of reference for you is that I turned in 600k to Farseer recently and went from ~3.4 to 4.0000 reputation. Just barely enough to get my T4 FSD :)

IMO the easiest approach, if you do not want grade 2-3-4 upgrades themselves, is to find upgrade for each rank with easiest materials possible, collect materials and generate/ditch 3 upgrades per rank. And you can usually use a lot of seemingly useless materials you already have...

While looking for those somewhat rare materials you find a lot of not so rare ones. It is useful to pick them up if u know you can use them for reputation gains. I had a lot of nickel, iron, and carbon (over 30 each) that you find very often. I used almost my entire supply to get as many engineers to level 3 as I could. You can only hold 600 so you have a certain amount of incentive to use them.

I also did not realize it at the time, but even grade 1 weapon upgrades have a chance to produce a special effect.

I only tested Elvira and 800k at reputation 3 seemed to be good for about 27%. Farseer should be the same. Overall it should be as follows for exploration data
Rep level 1 to 2 = 1 million credits
Rep level 2 to 3 = 2 million credits
Rep level 3 to 4 = 3 million credits
Rep level 4 to 5 = 6 million credits

I haven't tested turning in bounties or selling commodities, but the pattern should stay the same. The next level costs double the sum of all previous levels.
