PSA for anyone grinding the Imperial Navy Rank to Duke.

Head to "Stumbling Hobos Retreat" in Synuefe YE-Q C21-4 and grab all the data courier missions for outposts nearby. Then run around in circles between the 7 systems with almost always full mission stacking. Took me 8 hours from None to Duke but others have reported doing it 4 hours.

I took a couple of runs to boost my rep with the controlling factions, and the first run had no Courier missions from Stumbling Hobos, but a reasonable amount going between the outposts. The second run had far more.
I think the BGS for missions is so fragile that the slightest change within 30Ly affects it. Heaps of mining missions now. I guess I'll not bother trying to improve the area if I can't be sure that what I do may or may not ruin it.

Few weeks ago earned Duke by doing mostly on-foot missions. Delivery, Support and Retrieve from Crash Site are pretty quick and rewarding in Reputation.
Restore Power takes longer, but right after power is restored on that Settlement usually appears some nice Donate missions, if one have some credits to spare for Reputation.

Took too long. Courier missions are basically gone now. This doesn't work anymore.
I recommend going to a system in Civil Unrest and doing donation missions and transport missions for Landmines, Personal weapons, etc. There's only 3 to 4 different types and it makes it quite easy.

How are the on-foot missions? I always assumed you needed a fully upgraded suit and that combat was practically inevitable on those missions. Is that not true?

No.

If you are delivering or collecting from an NPC, there is no combat unless you fail to stop when challenged etc. I usually go unarmed for these missions.
Retrieving from a crash site can see npcs drop in, but some dumbfire missiles and a SRV are the way to go.
Restore power missions can see scavs already present (good as you can eliminate them first) or drop in later. Keep your ears open and your SRV handy, run at the first hint of trouble. Sometimes the destruction of the SRV is the first indication of scavs present, so I often have a spare in the ship.

So, a G1 Maverick suit will do, but G3s can be found easily enough..

Exactly as @SteveWW57 wrote, for Delivery, Donations - no combat at all (but Reputation is gained). For Retrieve from Crash Site and Restore Power scavengers are NUC-able from ship with Dumbfire missiles. Just no rush, before disembark it is worth to check Contacts for scavs reinforcement ship(s).

Restore Power are also very good for looting materials, after power is restored - settlement is actually yours, you can check every last locker for loot, since scavs are not arriving after power is up. And when you in PP those missions could be a good source of merits (i.e. after last update, that is 2340 (after -35% reinforcing penalty) from Princess, so Prismatic are pretty reachable.

EDIT: never shoot to scav's ship (it is Clean, not Wanted) and Settlement when power is up - otherwise fines/bounties will be gained.
