Greetings Commanders!
On behalf of pilots of Lakon Spaceways Type-6 and Type-9 transport vessels across the galaxy, we bring you this important safety bulletin. There has been a marked increase in near-fatal incidents involving Lakon Type-6 and Type-9 vessels when entering and exiting spaceports in many systems.
When entering or exiting a spaceport, it is important to remember to give a Type-6 or Type-9 pilot plenty of room to maneuver. These are large vessels with much inertia, and have little to no ability to react to sudden obstructions of the portal opening.
Please remember to check your scanner for incoming or outgoing vessels before starting on your approach vector, as there may not be time for a pilot already in such a maneuver to abort. In an effort to keep the entry portal clear a good pilot of a Lakon vessel will make an entry or exit as quickly as possible. Those few seconds could save your ship from destruction, and will prevent costly losses by both parties.
If joining a Type-9 in the approach pattern, please remember to keep the portal entry path clear once inside the station. Hesitation inside the portal can result in traffic collisions or docking infractions. It is also recommended that any Type-9 within 500m of the portal be given right-of-way, as an incoming approach speed may be higher to keep time before rotational correction short.
This has been a Public Service Announcement, brought to you by Lakon Spaceways. Thank you for your courtesy and cooperation, and fly safe!
