PSA (If you didn't know) Path barriers = Habitat Barriers

As shown in the images below, I've been using paths themselves to contain smaller non-climbing animals by having null barriers branch off a keeper gate and following the path around. I like the results a lot and it made me think of new kinds of habitats. Not seen many people doing it (I guess because you can't really share your results in the workshop). If you've done this though, would enjoy seeing what you've come up with...

I've seen this in a few of the scenarios and thought if there was a trick to it rofl. Other options .. is to use them on the other side of water from a non swimming animal.

I like doing that too. Be handy if it was listed if the animal can swim though. Think I saw that was being added but I’ve not seen it anywhere yet.

Building without official fences is my preference, and I found you can use all sorts of things as fences. I have just some rocks on one part of my lion fence, pretty funny how they need a 4m high strength fence... but can't leap over a pebble. Hippos can't swim over the river boat ride, swimming animals can't climb out a steep water edge, most construction items block the animals from walking directly through them. I am currently building a peahen enclosure with market stalls as a hidden barrier. I also discovered you can put stores inside enclosures!
I wanted to include some pictures but for some reason get errors every time I try :(

Definitely useful to use the traversable area heat map a lot to check for no accidental escape routes, and even then I had a few escapes from half-building a new part of their enclosure and accidentally temporarily building them a ramp right out of there.

Hello,

I'm reviving this thread just to say that I did an experiment and every single animal can be contained by path barriers...and I love it!

I know it's not realistic and it's something I'll do with only certain zoos that I'll build, I've just been worried about the devs possibly patching it out of the game, so my post today comes with a plea to any Frontier staff that might see this post - please keep it in the game 🙏 (at least in Sandbox mode).

I really enjoy how clean everything looks by having null barriers behind the path railings and guests getting to be so close to the animals.
It's nice to change things up, innit.

I'd love this if you could restrict the path barrier to one side of the path. It would make building realistic enclosures so much easier, as most zoos have a double-barrier with a smaller barrier separating the guests from the fence.

I agree they should keep it in for creative reasons, but everytime I see that hippo next to the path and imagining dumb guests, I always think "oh no, this won't end good" In RL, enoughsilly people wouldtry to pet the hippo or cross the barrier.

I've realised recently that having fences enabled on paths on walk through exhibits extremely limits the freedom of the animals there.

Good feature to keep in the game though!

This is amazing and I really hope they never 'fix' it! My guests are a foot away from a polar bear complaining the view is 'ok' :D
