PSA: Lave blockade (regards engineer unlock)

Your actions force the Lave Station repeatedly into Lockdown state.
See, I am waiting for almost a week to get Lavian Brandy to unlock Didi V. I played a bit yesterday, but apperently before the system came out of lockdown. Alas, well possible that when I find the time to play next, your actions will bring it back to lockdown again, thus locking me (for another 2 weeks?) out from doing so. As I don't touch "open", I don't have an alternative source.
Not to mention that it sets a bad example of locking players out from essential resources. Following your shining example, people might lock access to "Soontill Relics" next, thus locking us out from 5 engineers in one shot.

Or you could login now and grab it while you can. If its not available or any item sold at a station for that matter at another time then that is just how the game plays out.

A question Commander, if the lockdown was just to normal BGS activities, i.e. like the majority of other lockdowns, civil wars, unrests, famine and boom - would you still be complaining?

Rares can be obtained entirely in Solo from the cargo holds of installations and megaships - you just need to find one which has Lavian Brandy and rob it (Civilian and Tourist types are the most likely to have rare alcohol)

You might also be able to get them from passenger liner holds - I haven't checked - but that would be less reliable even if it worked.

On the possibility of blocking off other engineer-specific rares with Lockdowns: there are easy ways in the BGS to prevent this - a faction can be configured [1] to be *almost* immune to Lockdown, and to have all Lockdowns which do occur only last a day. Is anyone actually going to go around and make sure all the other rare sources are set up like that? Probably not... though some might coincidentally be that way.

...conversely, it's been possible to block access to engineers by putting rares production into Lockdown since the 2.1 release and no-one's really tried yet.

[1] Basically, make sure it's in a few systems where it can easily be pushed into Retreat or a War/Election - this overrides the lockdown and blocks future ones for quite a while too. LRN as a single-system faction is much more vulnerable to Lockdown than most controlling factions. The disadvantage of doing this is that unless very carefully controlled it *also* makes the faction mostly immune to Boom, which means you don't get the "increased rares production" effect of that state. So it works both ways.

Will check with my employer to install Elite on my notebook right away!

Lockdown all the systems you like, even those with rare commodities. But not if it locks access to ressources required by other commanders for an essential part of gameplay. It would be the same if it is possible to lock access to 7A FSD by locking a certain system, but as those are available on >5000 stations...

I don't think you understood my question: If the lockdown at Lave was created via normal BGS activity like it happens 99.9999% of the time, i.e. with no input from players, would you still complain on the forums?

I would, if it lasts over many weeks/months as well, with little to no influence by the individual(!) player. In the last days I have handed in a few million worth of bounties in Lave, but I doubt it has a measurable influence, if a player faction is actively working against.
Considering that engineering systems see very heavy player traffic, it is maybe also less likely that random, non-player faction influenced lockdowns take place, compared to some random, 5 players a day systems.

Oh my, I'm honestly sorry you have to work constant 24 hour shifts.

Shinrarta Dezra UA Bombing... anyone remember those? Oh the multitude of forum complaints.
Seems like some people can't handle being denied instant satisfaction. Cheers. I would stock up some lavian brandy for you for free, but it seems you don't touch "open".

For the record, this recent lockdown lasted 8 days.
4 weeks before this one began, there was another one which also lasted 8 days.

So essentially 1 week of lockdown and 4 weeks without.

All BgS activity requires input from players.

You people are hilarious.
How exactly are a bunch of BGS players "blockading" Lave Station?

And why would we blockade Lave Station?
It wouldn't serve any purpose for us, and would actually slow us down significantly if we tried.

Just jump on the "I blame AEDC for everything" bandwagon :)
So funny.

To be fair, the first thing I would do in any BGS hijinx where a rare good is involved is shut down the market either via lockdown or UA bombing to cut out the background traffic that supports the controlling faction while you chip away at improving your preferred factions influence.

As to purpose, last I checked AEDC was a little 'tender' about losing control of Lave, and the drama that it entailed.

If it is you chaps, its a well played hand

Of course they would. This forum is littered with examples.
