PSA: Workaround for broken Post Thargoid Recovery Reactivate missions

With the new META for suit upgrades being the Post Thargoid Recovery Missions, it's time to talk about how to take those missions without getting caught by a server tick (reports that there is a bug are mistaken; it's always been the case that server tick can invalidate an ongoing mission; the bug is they keep handing them out).

Here is the work around:
  • Check the System Map or Nav Panel to see if settlements are offline in this system.
  • ALL settlements in a system will be offline, or ALL will be online.
  • Generally don't take missions in a neighboring system until you can check

Fly dangerously, CMDR!

I haven't seen any of these missions yet (simply because I didn't know they existed). What is the recommended build for them?

Generally, just be ready to smoke some Scavs anyway you know how. I prefer the air to surface missile strike :D

You'll want your Mav suit for the storage b/c you'll be able to take everything un-challenged (save for aforementioned target practice)

So, I generally run a Cobra Mk III with dumbfires...and a Mav suit with w/e loadout that I find enjoyable

Uhh....maverick suit?

I asked because OP said there was a Meta build. So, I was curious as to what he was thinking.

Okay, so it looks like there's nothing too special about it - just a typical recovery missions.

FYI - @Monk ... I didn't know you were Ron Swanson! You're my hero!

Not that there's a META build, but this is the META for building suits/suit components.

I think the OP meant the meta for gathering suit materials is post thargoid recovery missions...and I'd agree. I made no progress with Oddy suits and guns until now.

Edit: what thefezzer said

Ah... that explains it. Sorry for being so dense.

Those recovery missions in the post-Thargoid systems can give suit schematics as mission reward, I have seen quantities of three to five. But you have to have some RNG luck. Other rewards include 3 to 5 power regulators and manufacturing instructions.

Out of like 40 such missions listed only 2 of them even listed Weapon Schematics as reward, none listed Suit Schematics.
it seems to be so rare that it really isn't worth going there over raiding anarchic Extraction settlements.

There are tons of restore power missions in the list again today, but NONE OF THEM rewards Suit Schematics! So therefore WHO came up with this propaganda??

Those who did get them. I got quite a few missions that awarded Suit Schematics, Power Regulators and Manufacturing Instructions when I was in Luggerates last week. Usually between three and five units per mission, and I always got at least two of them per mission board iteration. Is the system you are trying in still in post-Thargoid recovery?

That's only two tries then - the actual amount of missions on the board doesn't matter.

In my experience, the Odyssey mission board picks 3-5 rewards and uses them for all missions it generates. Only when the whole mission boards gets reset will the list of possible rewards be selected anew.

Restore missions also have a decent chance of suit schematics from the lockers in the PWR building itself - I picked up far more that way than directly from the mission rewards, back when I was looking for Odyssey materials.

I will trade them for the five million building, vehicle and ship schematics I picked up instead of Suit Schematics because I was physically unable to not pick them up. They practically scream "I will be useful later", so I have this compulsion to collect them :).

Far more than two, several days of camping the mission board in that Spanish station in Luggerates.

One interesting thing i have noticed is that is thera is a Mix of Activated and Deactivated plantary settlements in a system. it Will ONLY give missions for the settlements that are alreadty activated and none for the off line ones. so the only way to get mission is to fix sysems where No planitary settlemets are active
