PSA: Yum Kamcabi CG will be under blockade. AVOID at all costs...

I'm friends with a number of the 13th guys and I've hardly seen their markers over at Yum. Conversely, the CG at Fedmich is still smokin with players coming and going.

I've been their most of the weekend and I really haven't seen much of them. We had two or three really good big fights between us (AA), BBFA, some other group that flys with BBFA, and 13th. The only groups that had a strong presence at the CG has been AA and BBFA.

This is not about the Federation. Nor is it about the Empire. It is about helping refugees. And the sponsor of this is a Mahon adviser. So basically, you want to prevent a refugee center from being setup. How sad. Once they get the center up and going, they won't care if the refugees come from the Federation, Empire, Alliance or Thargoids for that matter. If you've lost your home and been dispossessed they will take you in. And there is no way you can stop this from happening as pilots will run the required goods in in stealth mode (solo) if they have to.

And before you say it's about a prisoner of war camp, there is absolutely no concrete evidence of that. You can say it, you can even think it. You can also say and think space is white instead of black and contains breathable atmosphere; but that doesn't change the fact that it is indeed black and an airless vacuum.

To be honest it has been a very weaksauce blockade, I saw one FDL prowling the starport, and snuck through in silent running. :/

If anything, this silly blockade idea has made the CG even MORE successful. Way to backfire, guys.

Unless that was your plan all along, in which case I'm impressed.

Nothing wrong with optional roleplay. If players want to do something in game in open I do not see the problem. Either participate in it by playing in open or use in game tools to opt out. No need to get angry IMO.

I'm still amazed that I have yet to see a CMDR named "CMDR Commander CMDR" in the game. Surely someone out there appreciates the comedic value of a Commander named Commander? :p

A la Major Major from Catch 22?

How did the blockade go then? I was discussing trying to run it with a friend in a T9 with an escort or two, but if it's not happening, then I think we'll skip it. So it is working in a kind of reverse psychology sort of way I guess [blah]:S

Actually, it's very unlikely, that these materials they ask for are for a refugee camp. Still - i trust Halsey more, than i trust Hudson.

Polymers are used to build all kinds of things. from walls to wastepaper baskets. Tantalum is a very versatile substance too and is used in constructing electronics. And everyone needs the power the power generators they requested will provide. So I disagree that it's very unlikely that these materials are for a refugee center. I'd say it's as likely to be used for a refugee center as it is for a prisoner of war prison, a hospital, an administration center or a corporate office building for that matter. And if it was being sponsored by Hudson, that would give me pause. A year ago he said, "Mark my words, in a month, piracy will be a thing of the past." Only in your dreams, Mr. President. But Halsey is now in the Employ of Prime Minister Mahon as one of his trusted advisers. That in itself gives credence to the stated reason.

It has been very spotty. I did three days of it to see how well a Viper IV can blockade run, and I ran into two sets of players who were only on for a couple hours each. One was the 13th, who issued a formal warning before interdicting and the second was an odd bunch saying something about hippies (were they allied with space Cartman?). Maybe it was because of timezones (I play at night on the US Pacific timezome), but I got interdicted a lot more by NPCs than people.

Oh, and the VIV is great for blockade running - 40t of cargo plus decent shields and it's a nice little hull tank; just needs some engineering to make up the lack of speed. The only time I only got destroyed was when I made the mistake of attacking the clipper that interdicted me, his two friends dropped in and the combined fire plus my FSD rebooting from either damage or grom rockets made it impossible for me to high wake. Otherwise my thermal enhanced shields and dirty drives were enough to survive to high wake out of every interdiction.

We only had about 20-25 guys blockading, so between real life, instancing, time zones, etc., it's quite possible that some people participated in the CG and never saw us. But we did stop plenty of ships. Some listened to our instructions and jumped out of system unharmed, others resisted and made it through despite our efforts, and many others resisted and were destroyed. In the end, the CG was going to get completed anyway, but we enjoyed making this CG interesting. Until next time... o7

It was a fun experience, and kudos for running a real blockade instead of a gankfest. See you at the next one :) o7

If you ask The CODE I am sure they will say that he was spot on! ;)

Cool of you to play along with this and actually argue with a bit of Lore. Meeting RP with RP. Nice.

For the rest though, it's the first time in ages that someone has actually RPed a cause to blockade a CG and all you can muster is to snipe at the OP and his group. Who cares if you haven't seen any of them? There are literally thousands of players at a CG and with only 10, perhaps 15 cmdrs per instance, there is no way a group can cover all of those. Add 24 hours to a day and you start to see math that doesn't add up.
Some people met them, a lot of people didn't. It's the way this game works on a hardware level. Get off your horses why don't you. They ain't that high.

Oh, and I have no love for the 13th, but atleast this time they did something outside of "I see an open rectangle. Must kill open rectangle. Hur dur!" It would be nice to see more of that from the "bad guys" out there, and not just a new saltmine open every 24 hours.

Agreed. At least they give fair warning.

Thanks! Just for the record, we have a strict Rules of Engagement. We are about the only PvP group that doesn't kill indiscriminately. o7

Agree, I never actually met anyone of the 13th apparently (pity you, I was in a shieldless T-9, an interdiction magnet :p), but I've been far more threatened by NPCs' than by actual cmdrs. The only one that managed to deprive me of 6.5 millions for a new freighter (plus cargo) has been a random guy ramming people at the mailslot, and only because after many wasted rebuys he succeeded in catching me off guard and a bit overspeed (still the lamest way of playing imho, but shame on me for falling for it). The only other rebuy happened because of a NPC Clipper that I clearly underestimated. Apart from this, a couple of close calls due to NPC interdictions but no blockade to be seen.

Also, hat off to the one cmdr in a Cutter who actually interdicted and pirated me the way it should be done, never happened to me before, kudos for the clean work.

I'll gladly take the risk of meeting pirates and blockades in an unshielded helpless ship any day over boring rinse-and-repeat hauling work ;) (of course preferably *after* having secured my financial position with the right amount of solo rinse-and-repeat hauling work :p)

Former fed president asks for large quantities of materials delivered to a fed controlled station. Materials requested and refugee story seem dubious. Add in a good dose of impy paranoia.

Blockade makes perfect sense if you look at it like that.

Nice to know someone has some ethics. I was killed yesterday, empty, while trying to high wake out. He told me to high wake so I did. Then as I was high waking he unloaded on me. I just about busted a gut laughing as he didn't deprive me of anything except about 150,000 credits; which is nothing. I had gone there in Open just to taunt these guys. No cargo, not even any weapons. Guess they can't take people shooting back at them verbally. Sad really. But nothing surprising. Internet bullies are like that everywhere.

I actually got pirated by a guy in a sidey, but by then I was so used to getting pulled over by FDLs, pythons and corvettes that I felt insulted - I didn't even notice his messaging me and just opened up with full multicannons. Ah well...

Oh yeah, it's fishy AF if you ask me. It's as if today some country was claiming to be setting up a school in Somalia and importing large amounts of tungsten carbide to do it with :)
