Why am I not surprised. It's the year of the lootbox after all.

its a minor annoyance - once you know what the issue is.

company seems pretty decent to me - 1.5 million players/ accounts BANNED for cheating. not bad going.

Oh yes, that's good news. Alas, it doesn't get round my concerns about graphics settings.

I get that it's my problem, and that's fine. It's why I haven't made a purchase.

It is overall a good game, IMO, and I thoroughly enjoy watching livestreams and YouTube videos. I think it's got eSports potential, one day. Especially the four-man squad mode.

There are just a few little bits I don't like, but that's okay. I'd rather be a happy spectator. :)

After some nagging by the lads on Xbox, I've purchased the game on my console. I know...

However... It's actually proving to be a rather enjoyable experience.

I mean I'm crap. That was always going to be the case, as my medication does gimp my reactions by a fair margin, and it's apparent that reactions matter in this game.

I won't be playing 1v99.

However. The four-man squad mode is proving to be an utter riot. I love it! It is actually a rather good job, what PUBG Corp have done, on bringing the game to console.

Make no mistake. It's hideous. It really is. We're talking PS2-level visuals on the Xbox platform.

However... That's okay. One, everyone on Xbox is seeing this. And two, the developers have, as far as I am aware, that their main priorities on Xbox is to make the game stable.

As my mates have told me, the game is already more stable then it was at Xbox launch.

All in all, I am pretty confident that this game will improve on Xbox. It's going to take a lot of time... But I'm hopeful. All in all, a good fun shooter to play with mates. Turns out I'm a happy player as well as viewer.

Im not too good in one on one's thats for sure, my reactions are quick, but I tend to struggle to hit the target a lot of the time so many of my bullets are wasted.

I opened a crate last night with my points and got a shirt that sells for £4.00 on the steam marketplace, so the next pint I drink will be on PUBG :)

I'd say this game has very little to do with reactions myself. It's more about situational awareness and learning to keep your head down. After you get down to the last 20 or 10 it's all luck anyway.

Might be a different story on PC. On Xbox, is a shooter with no aim assist on a controller... It's weird. Doable, but weird.

Honestly platform shouldn't make any difference. Do this in your next game for a laugh and see how it fares for you in 1 v 99.

Jump out in middle of nowhere. Then loot a few little bits and hide! Keep ahead of the ring of death if you can as early as you can each time. Stay away from big population centres as long as you can. The excitement in this game is getting down to the last 20 or less. The rest is just filler :)

I dont think I would stand a chance with a controller, I'd be spraying bullets everywhere.

It's certainly difficult! I'm lucky in that I have an Elite controller for my Xbox. The customisation options are very good on that thing, which made making a profile for the game quite easy.

A mouse is still better.

To be frank when you poke holes in it it is not built around to be fun - it is built around you desperately trying to be last man standing. Trying, trying and then quitting.

Overall mechanics are better than DayZ though, and it has been some thought into forcing players to face each other, but fact sniping dominates is...hardly fun.

some players do have superhuman reaction times!
The two of my kids I was playing with today put me to shame. I found an ACOG 4x scope and thought I'd put it on my designated marksman rifle (an SKS). Then I thought about it and gave the whole shebang to one of them, who proceeded to wipe out two squads with it.

The decisions you make in the game are really important--just as important as skill--right from where you head for when you jump out the plane. Part of the reason it's so popular, IMO, is that there's lots of room for a variety of playstyles, and the tension ramps up towards the end. There are also a lot of randomly brilliant moments, such as earlier today when we landed at a warehouse complex with two other squads. My two boys went over for a fistfight while I grabbed a shotgun. One of the other guys got an M16A4 and killed me with it, while another dude found a dune buggy and tried to run people over with it, killing one. The M16A4 guy used the last of his bullets killing the driver, so my eldest grabbed the dune buggy and spent the next few minutes chasing them around in circles, Benny Hill style. In the end, I died, and he ran three people over. I haven't laughed as much playing a game since the first time I played Gang Beasts.

There's me with my expensive mechanical gameboard and laser mouse, getting my behind handed to me, and there's them with cheapo membrane keyboards and crap Elecom mice, carrying me. It's rather illuminating.

Buy it. It's fun!

I have not been bitten by the PUBG bug because I simply am not into first person shooter games, and yes I do see the contradiction in that statement when you point out to me that Elite Dangerous is also a first person shooter game.

I've seen the rise of games like Doom, Metal Gear Solid, Call Of Duty and I've always considered them to be games that people who don't want to exercise the ol' grey matter play. To me they are mindless run-around-and-shoot-everything games. I've heard people talk about tactics and strategy and puzzle solving, but I don't see any of that in these games, they are simply "kill everything that moves" games.

Something that made me laugh was recently, our own Hugh Mann aka "The Commander" on Twitch stated he wasn't going to play a "bandwagon" game, referring to They Are Billions, and decided to play PUBG instead, the king of Bandwagon games of 2017.

Anywho ... I'm not into it, but I hope you all enjoy your mindless "kill everything that moves" battle royale game. :)
