Pulsar lost colony

Has anyone tried Pulsar? Seems like a cool multi crew ship simulator. Although I love the retro look of the game, it makes me more excited about seeing

So, thanks to Psykokow, many of us in the ED community, have got into playing this game.
It is a game where you are part of a 5-man crew of a ship. You go places around an artificial galaxy, fighting ships, drones and NPC's either in space or on a planet. You can get boarded or board other ships (provided your weapons officer doesn't kill you all while you're on the enemy ship :p ) ... and more.

If you're looking for top quality graphics, this isn't it. The game is an early access game still in development, and there are bugs in the game, but it's the interaction with your crew that makes this game fun. I'd say, joining others on Teamspeak, or a VOIP call is required for this game. While you *can* play it solo, it is really a multi-player game, and that is where it shines.

It is currently £18 on steam, and if you buy it and are looking for people to play it with, come onto the Lave Radio teamspeak and ask around.

If you've never played it before, I recommend being a weapons officer, as you only have to worry about shooting things. The next hardest role is the pilot, then science officer, engineer and finally the Captain.

Ahhh the multi-crew gameplay! I got to play this game almost 20hours nonstop with friends, on a teamspeak server with we screaming at each other, the turret guy screaming at the pilot cause the ship isn't aligned is just precious!

The potential it has, once the developers flesh out content and polish everything, it can be just one amazing game to play!

Interesting. Is there much to do in the game to suggest Frontier can make their Multi-crew interesting?

New update adds more ground missions, in-flight "pick-up" mission assignments, faction reputation, ship hijacking with jamming of emergency signals, a new galaxy map, radiation gameplay mechanic, new ship programs and viruses, a ship log, new sound effects, etc...

Quite a substantial update!

Oh that's quite a nice update, Pulsar had got me sleepless one night with friends together and screaming at each-other in a imminent verge of blowing up. Only sad point was the "end-game" being just not there, it's easy to run out of content so it's nice to see them iterating on that!

Yeah, that will be interesting, what is important is to nail the core mechanics. I see 4 main functions, fighter pilot, engine room, science officer, navigator (main ship pilot). However a lot more would be needed to fill the multi crew gameplay. EVA mechanics and walking around the ship. This will only be in another season (3), until then it will feel very amputated and not complete.

When we get the ability to get into outposts and stations I truly believe the gameplay will open up for ED.

The problem with Pulsar is that both fighting and walking feels cheap. If you can get past that, it's a cool game, especially in coop!

Beta 7.3 released with plenty of bugfixes. Also lots of games online to join. You definitely want to read up on the manual before hopping in.

Oh and avoid combat until you bought some better shields and reactor.

Sorry for necroing this thread but this game I think deserves it :)

If you haven't heard about it, Pulsar now supports VR for both Vive and Oculus, and it's perfectly playable in both. You can crew together with friends playing in 2D. Combat and missions have been improved a lot since last year.
Aaaand why I bring up this thread now is that the game is currently on sale, 50% off. The sale lasts until Monday.
There's plenty of online games to be found and multiplayer is a seamless drop-in/drop-out experience.

It could also be a great inspiration for Frontier to see how multicrew could be given more depth *hint hint* ^^

Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with the devs or anything. It's just one of the few fully featured 3d space/fps multiplayer games out there.
