Pulse Wave and laser mining help plz

Hey guys,

Whats up with the pulse wave guys, it just doesnt work anymore...... im totally hacked off with it. Ive got a clipper kitted out for launcher mining, if I decide to change it to laser mining, is it just a matter of changing the launcher n abrasion blaster for lasers? How is laser mining done exactly? Please someone help me, im so sick of using the pulse and trying to spin around to see whats lit up as the damn thing doesnt work infront of you

Thankyou so much Commanders

Any rock or are there gd ones to look for like pulse waving? btw someone said theres a petition to sign over here for the pulse wave anyone know where it is plz.

Thanks guys

Any old rock. Just look for the highest percentage of painite, and if the rock's spinning a lot move so you're looking at it end on.

I seem to have better luck plinking away at the smaller roids. Might just be an observer bias though. They’re close, there’s more of them, etc.

My general guideline:
10% painite or less: keep going
11-20%: meh. If the collectors are out.
21-30%: neat. C’mere, you.
31-40%: Alright! Payday!
41-50%: Oh boy oh boy oh boy!
50%+: (censored) someone get me a towel, please?

As everyone else has said pulse wave scanner is borked atm and only shows rocks with cores/surface/sub-surface deposits.

Laser mining is literally just about hitting as many rocks per hour as possible and skipping lower % ones.

Make sure you have an A class prospector to maximize chunks per asteroid and aim for 3/4 collector limpets per class 2 mining laser.

My Type 9 rocks 3 with 9 limpets and 512t of cargo. It has enough shields to survive NPC spawns and an elite slf and a cpl of seeker racks to see them off.

Final tip, put mining lasers and collectors on the same fire group so you constantly have max limpets out at all times.

How many prospector limpits should I have because I see a video where he said take 2 but the way I jus did tyhis I shot a prospector then targeted it to see what was in the asteroid, also I didnt see one asteroid over 24% and only ended up with 35 diamonds. My prospectors were not A`s tho so going to buy some now

Thanks guys, its nice to receive help, steam forums can be so toxic

As long as it's A rated any prospector is fine.

Some ppl like a 3A so you can line up next rock or target 2 nearby ones at once, but a 1A is sufficient if you have a good ratio of lasers:limpets then you shouldn't be sitting around waiting on them overly much.

I literally went through this exact same thing last week and all the advice given so far in this thread is the same conclusion I came to.

Bin your PWA.
Slap on a bunch of mining lasers.
3A prospectors are great for lining up your next target while your collectors finish up.
And finally as many collectors as you need to get the fragments scooped up nice and quick.

I currently have 8 active collectors, 2 active prospectors, 2 medium mining lasers and about 200 cargo space on my mining ship.
Made 1billion credits over two casual afternoons of Painite mining last week and my Carrier is set for the next few years👍

Adam, if that works for you, great. I tried it and ended up swapping the collectors out for the prospectors on the laser firing group. I’m firing collectors way less frequently than prospectors and got tired of changing groups. YMMV.

On another note, recommended ships for mining? Im currently running a python with 3 lasers, 2x5a collectors and one 3a

I put lasers and collectors on the same trigger.

In a peaceful miner I put prospectors on the other trigger in the same group.

In my HazRES miner I put the turrets on the other trigger and the prospectors have to go in another fire group.

For laser mining go big. Type 9 or Cutter are the best for balancing space and collectors. Type 10, Anaconda, and Corvette also work but will haul less. Cutter is pretty much the king because of its big internals plus a bigger distributor than the Type 9,

Hard to beat the python, really. Can go bigger if you like — t9, conda, corvette, cutter — but your time in ring gets longer. Python cuts a nice happy medium: big enough to be roomy, not so cavernous that it gets flat-out dull filling the thing up.

Same as you. After spending time mining in my Python and filling up 192+6 tonnes of Painite, I need a break. Plus you have more options of selling the painites in small outposts if you don't plan to store them in your fleet carrier (not everyone owns a fleet carrier).

I love my Type 10 for mining. Enough space for 256 tons of cargo, big shields, big armor, tons of guns, SLF, big cockpit view and all my mining gear to boot. When I go mining, I simply fear no NPCs EVER.
