Puma Clipper

Yeah, that's right, not the Panther Clipper, but the Puma Clipper. Why have we not heard anything about that little sweety?

I found these stats from an Elite:FE2 site. I'd never heard of a Puma Clipper before. Sounds like a Panther on a severe diet, but still larger then a T-9 Heavy for carry capacity.

Anyone heard rumblings about this ship?

Panther Clipper
Maximum gross mass 2500t
Empty mass 400t
Payload 2100t

Puma Clipper
Maximum gross mass 175t
Empty mass 1000t
Payload 825t

PS. These ships are mentioned as well and still not seen in-game (yet). Should we get our hopes up?

Boa
Constrictor
Falcon
Gecko
Hawk Airfighter
Imperial Trader
Interplanetary Shuttle
Kestrel Airfighter
Krait
Lifter
Lion
Lynx Bulk Carrier
Moray 'Starboat'
Osprey Attack Fighter
Tiger Trader

I desire new ships in this game, very muchly.

Its becoming a game filled with Pythons. FDLs. Condas and cutters.

how would an Interplanetary Shuttle work in the current game enviroment?

I can't find it in the Frontier Elite 2 manual.
There is a Puma Shuttle of 175 tonnes.

The 400 tonnes Panther Clipper was the biggest ship in Elite 2.

I believe we will eventually see new ships. I suppose it is not the biggest priority at the moment, which is understandable.
Eventually FD will have to add new ships to feed the insatiable masses.
But I hope they are ships I can actually use. If they add a fighter the size of an Eagle then I have no use for it.
Some competitors for the Python, FDL and Vulture would be nice.
Especially the Python needs competition in the medium pad niche.

Puma Clipper was dedicated trading ship but with better defenses than other ships of this kind as I remember - I`m totally for more role specific vessels for Elite.

Personally I'd love to see shuttles and other non-system jumping ships.

This is how they'd work for me:

For ships like Capital ships, shuttles would be essential to load/unload from space stations and perhaps other large ships.
For ships that cannot land on planets [and more ships should be too unwieldy to do so], launching a shuttle would accomplish this
For ships that are Large, shuttles would allow docking and cargo transfer at outposts and Capital ships - perhaps refuelling & restocking, but perhaps not repair or outfitting

Shuttles would be continually moving between various system astral bodies, often with valuable passengers and payloads making for some tempting missions.

If you were an Anaconda, for instance, you could fit a shuttle bay instead of a fighter bay.
If you were a sidewinder, you could fit an interplantery drive rather than a class-1 FSD - so you could just supercruise - and perhaps - as a result make yourself a formidable combat ship capable of fitting in a fighter bay [as indicated in the in-game text]

Here is a list (and some reviews) of all the ships that were in Frontier First Encounters.

I do not know the veracity of this, but there was a rumour that Ian Bell retained the rights to certain ships, and therefore we would never see them in Elite Dangerous. I too would like to see a lot more of them in game - especially the useless shuttles and lifters flying between stations and (for example) the naval ship yards.

I like this, we could start by letting our SLH fighters to carry small cargo and be able to land on outposts.

Nice ideas.

Well I think the Panther Clipper is supposed to be in the game eventually, there was concept art for it so I guess it is coming sometime next year I guess.

We've also forgotten the Narwhal Liner and The Hunter.

I'm also all for more and new ships, but I'd also like to see more surface vehicles (Scarab alternatives) and ship-launched small craft first.

I would say this ship would be replaced or superceded by the Hauler
With FSDs being so small if you wanted a interplanetary shuttle it would be a Hauler with a class 1 FSD for in system hops

The Narwhal was a customised Beluga wasn't it?
I imagine one that the Federation Engineers tweeted and fitted with Modules a Federation President might need, like a C&C Centre and Ops centers in addition to the Luxury Cabins

NPCs can get Panther Clippers:

That must have been quite a fine.

In the backgrounds for SLF crew there are some other ships mentioned, so perhaps these are in development (even if they are just background lore for the moment, it leaves the door open for inclusion later). These other ships include not only the Panther Clipper LX but I have seen a mention of an experimental Manticore for the Alliance. Look for pilots in the Crew Lounge who say they used to be a test pilot - these are the ones who might be tipping us off about other ships.
.
The ED: RPG game that is soon to come out lists another ship in the descriptions for the supplements: a Mamba Mk2. I have no idea what will and will not be canon in those books, however, as they'll be providing gameplay years before anything similar can be done in Elite: Dangerous itself.
