Puma vs Florida Panther?

I'd go for the puma personally, as they have a really broad distribution (North, Central and South America) and range of biomes (Taiga, Temperate and Tropical at least) that would make them more versatile overall. I would much rather that than a single subpopulation (I don't think Florida panthers are even considered a subspecies now) restricted to a single tiny area.
And don’t forget grassland as another biome for the mountain lion

I don't know much about pumas/cougars/mountain lions so I went to read about the different subspecies and I'm confused. It seems that there have been many changes and now only two subspecies are considered: North American Puma (the Florida panther is just a population of this subspecies) and South American Puma. In that case, the North American Puma is the one I want.

Does someone have better knowledge about this?

You’re basically right. The Eastern Cougar has been wiped out. The Florida panther is the last population in the eastern US. And it lives in a very limited range

I really don't care which one we get, as long as we don't get BOTH, the horror. (Of course after I have all the animals I crave for in this game, I don't care if we get clone-like animals anymore, so then they can add all the clones they like)

Yeah, I don't really know what makes Puma special though, there are other mountain-climbing cats already, the color is unique, but otherwise it doesn't have much special behavior that puts it apart from other bigger felines... I hope somebody prove me wrong, but I doubt it. I wouldn't mind seeing a Puma in the game, but it isn't my first wish.

It has really big paws proportional to body size and it can’t roar so it’s sounds will be unique. They actually screech and purr (look it up it’s funny) They also live in so many biomes: desert, grassland, temperate, tropical, taiga

I don't really care, like said before, the North Amerian population is now considered to be the same (to be honest, I don't really agree with that, but that's an other matter), the South American is the same species, so I think I would rather go with a generic one.
And pumas would be really interesting to see in game, as mentioned earlier, they ocurr in almost every biome over the Americas. From south Alasca down to the southern tip of Patagonia. Of course they are an other cat, but the only member of the subfamily of the "small" cats (Felinae; the cheetah is a special case). Some population (like the Caatinga one, which is were I live) are really threatened. So I really think they deserve their spot!

I would like just a general cougar (Puma concolor). I don't really like the idea of subspecies in the game since it restricts creativity. (The whole canis lupus situation is really weird currently in the game.) I also would have prefered a general brown bear Ursus arctos instead of the grizzly. Could have used bears in European sections.

Unless there’s a VERY clear difference between the subspecies and the broader species (like for arctic wolves vs. other wolves), I’d prefer they go for the broader spices rather than a (more climatically limited) subspecies.
