General Put NPC crew in empty seats in your cockpit/bridge.

I intuitively thought this was the case already, but I asked in the newcomers section since I couldn't find mention of it. There are several aesthetic reasons, but personally I find the idea of exploring the deepest regions of space with an empty seat behind my back pretty bleak and depressing. I'll fork over some profits for that, sure.

Yes, in theory I could hang out with a real life friend or two and solve that issue 100%. If I had two friends that play Elite. I'm also a parent and between work and the time spend on that, I really can't commit to any scheduled exploring time with a friend.

So hence my suggestion. Fill up that seat, fill up that empty space.

This may read like I'm trolling, but I'm actually almost being serious - I dislike all the empty chairs - makes me paranoid that I must smell from hauling all that biowaste....

Which would bring the grand total of things an NPC pilot is good for to TWO, one of which is purely cosmetic. They still get paid for anything YOU do, though.

Actually, are you SURE this is a good idea? You've seen the pictures of these guys, right? NPC pilots who can walk down the street without making children cry are pretty rare.

It's not someone random, it's the crew you hired to fly your fighter. Personally, I did a lot of shopping around to find a harmless female pilot who could look in a mirror without it cracking.

I agree that if you hire an npc crew member then they should be sitting with you in the cockpit.
I recently came back to the bubble after a short time exploring and I really could have done with someone sitting next to me.

I finally broke down and bought an alt account on sale so I can multicrew with myself.

The sad part of is when you get an oppurtunity tyo play with others and wing up, you have to evict the alt-account from your ship first.
