Newcomer / Intro PVE combat - Newbie in ship combat - old Explorer/Trader

I see - the mission titles will be different - looks as if I pick up on civil war section - is a best type of system to find Pirate massacre missions?
Just to point out you don’t need to take a mission to hunt pirates just head to a RES and start scanning, if you have no cargo you will be ignored while you let shields recover or for a more intense experience take a ton of any cargo other than limpets.
The nice thing is no deadlines or kill quota to meet.

Hi All,

Im a UK player solo that only get an hour or 2 in the evenings - I've been enjoying Elite on and off for years - I keep trying ship combat, but disheartened when it take me in a vulture (lightly Engineered) ages to take down a ship

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong - I'm shooting, getting ride of shields (not too bad), but the hull take forever - on youtube I see people take a vulture in unengineered and take out ships fairly quickly

I try to keep as close as possible (normally 1 to 2 k) - but in low conflict zones, I get 1 or 2 ships before I run out of ammo or have too much damage

Any help would be fantastic - as I enjoy combat, but it feels like I'm shooting a pea shooter

You're grade one engineered. That's nowhere near enough to be doing combat zones, especially in a Vulture that doesn't pack enough punch to begin with when armed with multi-cannons.

You need to be at least G3 or higher on everything before you try combat zones. And in a Vulture, you need to be very good at what you're doing as it's just not a very strong ship with those guns on it. Step up to some Pacifier Cannons and you're talking a completely different story though.

Here you go gents - I....

Just an FYI (not moaning or criticising) you can just generate a "shortlink" in the top right:

I'll go +1 for compromised nav beacons (CNB's). At first, don't try to take on wings (i.e. an NPC "team") and focus on single targets equal to or perhaps one down from your current rank.

As your experience grows - and it will - you'll find those become easy (well, easier) and you'll be able to move on to more challenging fights.

You can search for them here, changing, of course, the system to the one you're in currently.

EDIT: And once you've had enough of that, there's a whole new world of ground-based combat to learn \o/
