PvE (in SHIPS) nerfed?

Howdy.

So I tried to take a few ships to a CNB for som good old combat. Either I'm very rusty, or combat has been nerfed (quite a lot it seems). I have a T-10 with all incendiary frags (it look good). That one used to be able to take out an Eagle in a single shot. Not anymore it seems. My frag Vulture used to eat Conda's. Not anymore. My Vette with all beam lasers (all pips to wep) used to finish ships before the PD ran out. Not anymore. It might be the NPCs that have used all the chaos to engineer their ships, or a nerf of my weapons.

I like the idea of making combat more challenging, even though those frags were handily OP.

Can anyone confirm, or are you too busy looking at planets and your new feet?

Just tried it once lately. It seemed to talk me longer then normal to finish off a FDL with my FDL. I wish the rewards were more in line with trading, especially if it takes twice as long to destroy something. I would spend a lot more time pew pewing to get fuel for my carrier if it paid more.

You could just rise rank -> better enemies. You should measure on +/- the same enemies. For example. kill 5x Condas in "pirate signal 7". Or kill "thargoid scout marauder". That will ensure you do measure on the same enemies.

Hopefully you are right and they have 'UPPED' the NPC's ability, and intelligence in ALL Combat scenarios. Come on, you have to admit that the ships where Bullet (Laser, PA, RG etc etc) sponges! No ship should be 'One Shot Kill', and NPC's should more like Humans when they lose the shield, RUN FOR THE HILL's.

If we are to continue to get paid more for killing them, then upp their AI and Ability.

You just rose in rank I guess.

I'm "dangerous" and have been so for ages (33%), so it's not that. Also, because of that, I tend to aim for Elite NPCs. I haven't done much PvE lately, but I'm pretty sure that my guns aren't what they used to be. No problem as I wrote. PvE was like shooting fish in a barrel and I normally took wing missions just to get some challenges. I'm not good at all, but the NPCs were really bad.

NPCs do seem a little chunkier. My double-shot pacifiers aren't melting them in one go anymore.

Good I say.

OK, now imagine how great it feels with unengineered gear.

The other day i also did some pve combat in a haz res and Pirate activity and if anything they seemed more squishy than before to me. But maybe i have gone overboard on the outfitting. :)

Was waiting for someone else to say it. 🤣

5000 hours in game. Wiped my save a few months back. In combat missions today, with any ship in my fleet (I'm only up to a python right now), even when the missions are threat 1 or 0, I'm finding elite pilots flying eagles that a) I can barely kill and have actually fled from, b) they armor tank me for 10 minutes. An eagle. Shields down. I'm pounding it with burst and beam lasers, I'm hitting it with missiles, still it lives. Why? Why am I fleeing from armor tanking eagles that belong in threat 3 missions when I have a new save game and I'm flying cobras and pythons?

'Dangerous', right?

Then I find a signal source with target ships for another mission. I approach. They are all just sitting there. I engage. They continue to just sit there. They don't fight back. I kill them. +1 for me. No challenge at all.

And we are back to ships with 0% power cores and 0% thrusters continuing to fight, lol. I took screenshots. I fought inside a CZ for like an hour the other night, just trying to get a few target ship kills. 3-4 times I tried to make things easier by targeting power cores, but the ships kept going. Another time a ship with a power core at 29% and armor at 10% randomly blew up, giving me the kill lol.

You are spending way too much time in the game. I only have 2000 hours now ;) It'll be interesting to see if this really has been nerfed. I don't mind, but I guess the forum will be salty as the Dead Sea.

You don't know my lifestyle, and this is spread out over 5 years. 😉

This has happened before (ships with no thrusters or power cores continuing to fight, fly), and it's like frontier rolled back fixes from years ago. I dunno about combat difficulty, and if it continues to be a problem I'll just do non-combat stuff once a few more patches are rolled out.

I also noticed that the large blocks around bright stars in screenshots are back, so I thought, what the heck, let's see if the old "slip mining" trick at Honoto was back on. It isn't. Sad because that was actually good gameplay. Proper scary! :alien:

I am too busy trying to find the button to complete the last community goal, which was conveniently left out for PC Odyssey.
Lots of strange quirks here and there in Odyssey. If you exit the game while landed on a planet, you wake up again hoovering above the surface with your landing gear up. Ready for takeoff I guess, but how todo boardflippin' then?

All in all, I've been dampening my anger and played the game the last couple of days, and ❤️:alien:. It's already good, and with the normal Fdev hick ups on the way it will get better. I think much of the reaction was due to the marketing lies, but what the devs made is awesome with a lot of bugs.

Same impression here; my engineered shields on the FDL seem to drop faster, and take longer to come back up than in Horizons. Also seemed to get more lower ranked ships spawning than before, but not been back at CNB enough to get a good sample size.

@OP - it's not just you mate, i'm having a similar experience to yours!

It feels that i'm hitting enemies with a wet towel and they hit me back like a tank. I rarely used to be outmaneuvered in my Vulture by a Python, FAS or Gunship, yet here they are now, matching my agility. What the heck happened? Since when did those ships have the same maneuverability or greater than the Vulture?

I don't mind a hard fight, but man, where is my damage? It feels like i'm doing no damage to enemies anymore! Used to go to haz rez zones, pew pew enemies all day leaving there with a very nice profit, now i have to feel good if i kill a few enemies and get out with 18% hull remaining and maybe 150k in bounties.

And to top it all off, i don't have any engineering progress because i was never interested in that stupid grind and the horrendous RNG. And from what i've read, engineering seems to be mandatory for pretty much anything .

This game is just not fun anymore (for me).

I feel Spec-Ops's burst laser with phasing sequence is more power than horizon at conflict zone. And I think torpedoes damage with penetrator payload is less reduced by module-reinforcement module than horizon.
