Ships PvP Ships

Hi there. Nice logging in here after meeting ingame.

The first rule is: this forum is nasty sometimes, you shouldn't care 😜

Second rule is: if you want to PvP, you need engineering. A fully engineered murderboat.
Start small with a Vulture or Viper. Learn what you like...
I can't hit much with Plasma Accelerators, I mostly rely on gimbal. Depends on your style.
As a mostly newb player (no offense) you need to find your style first.
This will take time. And rebuys, as you've learned

Familiarize with Coriolis.io, it's a good ship builder.

Also use inara.cz, wonderful tool for engineers help.

Hello BigMaec!
I definitely have the credits to spend on a more advanced ship.
Would you be willing to give me a build to copy at first? Reason being that I've copied one off of YouTube but it turned out to be a really bad one. And since I know that you're really experienced, that'd be highly appreciated - thanks!

Here are some cool basics (by ryan_m17 on reddit)

I advise you to test a Vulture first, you will die often, and the Vulture rebuy isn't that bad

(use simple module reinforcement instead of the guardian ones if you don't have them)

Change the weapons according to your fun, double Frags work, double plasma accelerators work,
and many other combos. But I repeat, YOU WILL DIE. Often

Once you have some knowledge, look in the web for pvp hub in San Tu. You can arrange fights against other cmdr matching your skill level and engineering. Many squadrons also train new pilots in combat, you can look for them at Inara. Generally, a fully engineered and properly built ship for combat is the key. So your main task besides occasional sparring fights - unlocking those engineers (bubble). Also guardian shield reinforcement modules can come in handy, they are worth unlocking too.

Hello! Do you have good PvP builds and show me how to PvP? Thanks so much!
I'm just gonna unload all my PvP builds on you. Prepare yourself 😜
If you're on PC, message me and I'll send you my CMDR name. I'd be happy to teach you how to PvP.

Most of these are meta builds but I like to use my own hardpoint setups instead of what's popular. If you want to know the meta hardpoints setups as well let me know.

If you're unfamiliar with Coriolis.io click the wrench icon in the bottom left corner of each module to see the engineering.

I'll start with the Cobra III. This is not the meta but it's extremely effective and requires almost no pip management.

Federal Assault Ship. Considered by some to be the second best PvP ship in Elite. This is a hull tank so the idea is that the low MJ biweave will get knocked out quickly and your armor will tank most of the damage while the shields recharge. You'll typically lose your shields and get them back about 4-7 times during a fight.
This is pretty much the meta build for the FAS.

The Chieftain, my personal favorite. Also a hull tank but the rotational agility is only beat by the Vulture.
Build is mostly meta but this is my own hardpoint setup. I will sometimes swap out the small cannons with long range/feedback cascade rails.

The Vulture. I have very little experience using one of PvP. PA's are usually the most popular hardpoint choice but I've had a lot of success using pacifiers.

Krait Phantom. Another personal favorite.

Krait MKII. There's so many different builds for this ship. This build is my personal favorite.
Note that when using pacifiers and medium frags, the medium frags need to be gimballed since the paci has a much higher shot velocity.

The Mamba. There's a few different builds for this but this is by far the most common.
I'm probably gonna swap out the rails for Cytoscrablers when I unlock em.

The Fer De Lance. The king of PvP. Here's a prismatic and a biweave build with my own personal hardpoint setup. Let me know if you want the meta hardpoints.
Prismatic
Biweave
Here's a very simple and noob friendly Fer De Lance build that requires very little pip management.

Finally the big boys

Anaconda, the DPS king. Not a very popular choice because of its weak shields but can pack a punch. It's absurd DPS can usually negate it's weak shields in the hands of the right pilots.
Note that a lot of players will swap out a 5D hull reinforcement for a 6D fighter bay but I don't like using a fighter.

Finally, the Corvette. Heavy hitting with great shields. Most people use all multicannons but again, I like to do my own thing. I have yet to lose a dual with this setup. Also, most use fighter bays but I don't.

FDL is the king of PVP until it meets my Challenger with 7 Pulse/Rapid Fire/Phasing Sequence LOL. Then it becomes the first ship leaving the wing to avoid being popped :D

Props to all the CMDRs sharing their PVP builds, thank you! I'd like to get into PVP too but just not sure where to begin

Don't know why, but a lot of people think that PVP is some kind of sports game with honest duels.
