Pvp statistics

Now if there were a 'crime report' or some such that the bad guys got attention from the good guys....now that I could get on board with. Kinda like a most wanted list (which is already there kinda) and maybe a top BH list or something. But not just how many CMDRS you've killed etc.

This is where intelligent and objective discussion of C&P is most critical. C&P is, almost by definition from the devs, intended to "bring consequence to playstyles that inherently have none". Ganking has almost no consequence or risk, and the other aspect it intends to address - CLing - actively removes consequence.

And yet most discussion here is around sheer punishment; "stop them going to high sec systems", "stop them buying things" etc. So to sum up, murderers are forced to play in anarchy systems for a bit.

What actually changes? From these kind of discussions I can see why people might be sceptical of C&P actually achieving anything.

As an example...first and foremost increase the murder bounty. 6k credits might have meant something one time. It doesn't now. From there allow people under a certain karma threshold to do whatever they want but a) lock them to Open, b) make their bounties apply galaxy-wide, c) give players tools for hunting all CMDRs under this threshold (as you yourself put forward with the reporting of offenders), d) increase the rebuy cost for the offending CMDR several-fold for the entire duration they are under this threshold, with any CMDR that destroys them receiving a reward proportional but not equal to this to avoid its use as a money transfer tool.

Then it doesn't matter what "useless statistics" we have; doesn't matter if players want to aim for "most PvP kills in history". If everyone that wants to do that suddenly appears on the galaxy map with a several mill reward tag on their head I would be among the first to jump in my iCutter and give them such a chase they won't have time to think about further murders.

Ability to play as you want maintained, but gankers would be subject to the same risk that they are being a part of when they kill someone else.

Drafting C&P under the pretense it's going to be worthless before we've started, and turning to knee-jerk removal of PvP content/whatever instead, fixes nothing...unless I missed something, and the PvE crowd have suddenly been in love with Open after removing the stat? ;)

I agree a properly implemented C&P system would make pvp stats null and void IMO.

I would see them becoming another whine tool from the PVE only crowd to try and limit the PVP'ers.

They used to be displayed in the CMDR stats until Frontier chose to remove them - before launch, I think it was.

Yep. I don't recall with 100% certainly when the old stats page was pulled, but I think it was removed some time in Beta 3...definitely after Beta 2 and before Gamma.

Here's mine from late Beta 2 or early Beta 3 (October or November 2014):

Ah, the days when it took 150 hours to gather seventy million CR...

IMHO, kill a CMDR (not NPC) that is way below your combat rank, should actually lower your combat rank, and quickly. :p

Combat rank is almost completely divorced from combat ability. Combat rank also doesn't mean anything to most players, especially the ones that spend their time mostly going after other CMDRs.

Frontier has also been allowing players to have thier CMDR's combat rank reverted to harmless upon request. I've seen plenty of people take advantage of this to bait inexperienced players into attacking them, or sticking around after being attacked longer than they otherwise would (which often results in a ship loss after they've been kited into a ring or some other masslock zone).
