And yet again, people don't understand that this is BASE SHIELD value, the upgraded shields wont be hit that hard, and as the devs already said.

THE PYTHONS SHIELD WERE RIDICULOUSLY STRONG! The 33% reduction should bring them down to the level they were intended.

For now python can be easly beaten by skilled viper and cobra. So why it is nerfed more?

Because every other medium/big ship can be easily beaten by a skilled viper and cobra too using the same dumbfire spam tactic.

The solution to that is adjusting the effectiveness of dumbfire spam.

Chess is a game played by 2 people each having 16 pieces on the board. Having one powerful each is quite okay.


It's actually a pretty bad analogy to ED where each player only has one piece (ship)

It is very good analogy, because we talking on solo pvp between viper/cobra and python.
Do you really think pawn should beat easily queen?

Let make queen a pawn-girl.... game will be better and more pawn piloting guys feel better, they can win easier and everybody will have a lot of fun at first day and nothing to do.

.....and this is where people are getting this game wrong. Its not the goal to get the best ship in the game. If there is a goal at all its the get the best ship for what you enjoy doing......then do it.

your right it is way bigger which means it has way more hull to cover with only slightly bigger shields

Python is not the best ship. It is ship worth to 100mln of grind. But it will not be.
This is not a godship.

Problem is a few of you own Python and a major complaining because cant afford it at now, and you want WIN now without hard in-game work.

Analogy is very good. If you are alone with your pawn vs opponent queen, of course you can wait for mistake. But probability of this mistake happens should not be large

In this game nobody is equal. There are richer players and better skilled pilots. Deal with that. Ships cannot be equal.
Like in life. You can buy Opel Corsa and someone with a lot of money will buy Bentley.
Mayby it use more fuel, but he afford it. Want Bentley too? Get to work. Not nerf Bentley.

This nerf will be OVERDONE.

Thing is players want to be able take out other players big ships like Python/Anaconda with their small Cobras/Vipers/Asps which is just ridiculous. Task like this should require teamwork of few smaller ships.
Not to mention it is possible right now (in seconds) as the video below shows:

Nerf shields OR speed/maneuverability not both.

Proper balancing can start when'll have ALL ships in game. Right now it's just waste of FD working hours.

This just suggests that there needs to be a bit more thought put in to dumbfire missile spam and if there is a way to counter it. Nothing to do with the Python per se.

But why can't it be a very good heavy all rounder? Not the best heavy fighter, not the best heavy trader, nor the best explorer, but capable of switching roles on demand? Think Cobra on steroids.

It is a nerf on demand.

I didn't see as much about "nerf those Pythons!" as I am now seeing about "don't nerf my Python!".

I.e., I don't see an (upcoming) nerf on demand, I see Python pilots lobbying to revert the (upcoming) nerf. Probably because they like their ship being as powerful as it is... which is somewhat to be expected with a ship the devs consider to be OP.

I even see Python pilots forking existing threads (which they are already involved in) in order to keep the publicity going...

To be fair, it still is. Even with reduced turning, it still turns better than most of it's large peers. It still has larger shields than anything that isn't the Anaconda. It still has the beastly 3 large hardpoints and 2 medium ones - unparralelled apart from the Anaconda, which has more trouble bringing them to bear and maybe less optimal positioning for them.

Because there are no dedicated heavy fighters you can compare it to yet..
