I can shut down some modules and see a significant difference in fuel/hour.

To me, it's the actual hyper jump that's taking a lot of fuel, but TBH I have not been paying attention to SC.
The Asp I fly still seems ok for jumping.
Not sure how to confirm this without getting a response from a dev.
The sc burn rate was around 1.1-1.2 pre patch, its now around 2.1-2.2 so yes they about doubled the consumption rate

No we are not looking at a reduction. This issue was that if you added another fuel tank to your ship, fuel cost would double.

Surely the maximum tonnage of fuel is the same and so is the maximum jump range? If there is any difference, it should be in the curve and not in its end points.
