Python - how do you fly yours?

True. Although it does depend on the outfitting ofcourse. My ultra-super-lightweight Viper does 55d/s, whereas my spikyViper only does 45. My CZ Eagle does a little over 70, outpitching the F63 by a fair margin. After flying it for a bit I tend to become super lazy, and everytime I go back to a less agile ship I get a quick reality check in my face. :p

And yeah, definitely hope the Krait is gonna be small and agile!

Could I see a build for that?

I'll be honest, I don't. I'm a bit overawed by the rebuy and I'm very awkward about flying it as a result. Most of the time I'm still flying in my Asp or my Dolphin instead.

Yes! Python thread!

First things first. A rated G5 dirty drives.

Then work on FSD and Distributer.

Once your agility is there you can use fixed. You have three good convergence options.

The nose, pretty straight forward, point it wher you want. It’s a fun slot for gimbaled overcharged corrosive multi as an A-10 nose cannon. I run an efficient Beam on mine.

Now break the top into left and right sides. The C 2/3 hard point pairs converge very well on a side, so matched fixed weapons hit hard with both staying on target. I’m using plasma accelerators on the right side.

The other side is what ever you fancy. Turreted pulse are nice if you are multi crew and you link to the plasma alpha attack. They’ll stay on target chipping away prepping you for that nose multi.

My current load out is plasma on right top class 3 and 2

Nose is an efficient gimbaled Beam

Left class 2 is a packhoun

Left top class 3 is the gimbaled multicannon.

The hardpionts on the Python are awesome and I find myself trying new configs all the time.

I don’t seperate PvP or PvE. I don’t think Elite was designed that way. I’ll fly open and engage whatever comes my way.

Haven’t lost my Python yet.

Sure: https://eddp.co/u/KWYEjVDt

As the API is still broken I randomized the module rolls. Turns out that with a better roll you can even top 80d/s, with top rolls ending up at 85d/s! At this point you are even 10% more agile than the GU-97, 60% more agile than the F63 and more than twice as agile as the taipan! Add to that you've got 10x the armor and almost twice the shields of the strongest SLF, plus any utility you want and the ability to add specials to your weapons, and its clear that a heavily modded Eagle is still very much viable. Of course, at this point your Eagle is also more expensive than a stock Vulture but hey. :p

Key elements:

1) Use lightweight everywhere
2) Use 1d HRP, even when you can go higher. Higher classes have reduced weight/armor ratio.
3) Use kinetics so you can keep full pips to ENG most of the time. Cannons are best because you only have c1 and you need to penetrate those bigger hulls.

Its shields are peanuts but regenerate in seconds. As its only an Eagle enemies will focus on your CZ allies when present. And this lightweight beast still has 500+ armor and chaff, while being super agile and fast. Good luck to the NPCs. :D

I love in agile ships getting right behind someone, almost scraping their paint, and they can't do anything about it lol.

Especially if you have a cannon or two fitted ;).

Frankly, I had no reason at all to fly any of the FxS ships until the Thargs came along. I recently purchased and outfitted a FGS, the Elmer Fudd as a bug-hunter (hunting Bugs, get it? Be vewwy quiet) just to try it out but might trade it in for another FerDL. My Python, Kaa (It's a Python, get it?) is a well-armed, medium-landing-pad capable trader/cargo hauler. o7

I called my trader Python Firefly, becuase it reminds me of the TV show ship with the same name.

Honestly though, if you get the chance, try out the FAS, it's a good ship just to have fun killing people in, and sometimes you just need fun.

Cool, thanks!
I was just thinking about building something like this.

I use clean drives because although the agility bonus is smaller they are better suited to battles and exploration (fuel scooping) due the lover heat generation. Which makes em a perfect choice if you use energy weapons.

Eh, I've used both. I started with Clean Drives because like you I was concerned about heat.

I've since switched to Dirty Drives and for the life of me I cannot discern a difference related to heat. Possibly it's warmer when boosting? But I can't tell.

Eh, wait, what? No no no, FSD first, then G5 Dirty Drives. Palin really should consider moving back into the bubble one of these years....

I did try it for a very short (like a couple of hours) while. It is a little bit more zippy than the FGS but lacks hard-points. Four is just not enough. o7

I fly my Python as a grinding vessel. No shields, no hardpoints, just cargo bays and a couple of passenger cabins. Works a treat to be sure, it has almost as much cargo space as my old type-7 did but has the added bonus of having access to smaller outposts. No engineering needed.

Well the next most agile ship is an FDL, which has 5 hard points, one of them a huge. Don't know if that's enough for you, but, while the FDL is more powerful, it requires more effort to keep targets in line, using advanced flying techniques. Generally however, agility comes at the cost of protection and/or firepower, and vice versa, so your not going to get a ship that brute forces through fights with ease, unless you get a corvette, maybe, but the time it takes to get one is ridiculous.

Ultimately, I'm just trying to see if I can help you find the ship for you, like others did for me, but it can be trial and error. Don't like a ship, sell it for something you do like. Eventually, hopefully, you'll find a ship that fits your style.

Yes you are right, good call.

Get to Felicity and A rate and G5 that FSD, hit up some G3 DD while you’re there, then you’re ready for the journey to Palin.
