Python MK 2 in game purchase

The only real competitor to PII is FDL. Krait is a multirole and not as maneuverable, C-ships and brickships lack the firepower in comparison (but are also two times cheaper).
And Mamba?
The real difference is in the utility slots. 6 vs 4, it makes a lot of difference if the build uses shield.

Also in practice, considering PP and PD? I admit I haven't even theorycrafted a PII build.
PP and PD are to weak for the hardpoints, severely limiting loadout choices, especially if you don't want an overcharged plant. Out of the Trio FdL, Mamba, PII it also has the lowest shield value. It's a one-trick pony, absurdly powerful with frags/pacifiers, but also mostly locked into that particular build.

That it is. Sadly that is also the type of ship we already have many of.

Still we have lots of medium combat focused ships.
I dont mean FDL didnt need some competition, but that we dont really need more combat ships*

Anyway, hopefully we get more info today - and a release date too...

*(unless they intend to turn it into a space arena combat game where you can buy your ships from the store instead of building an in-game career)

So far I haven't seen any ships ready to fight in arena by purchase. Maybe you can tell me what you mean ?

we are not there yet, but nothing is impossible 🤷‍♂️

Quoting a character from a different universe: The so-called impossible is merely something that has yet to happen

In terms of capabilities, we don't really need more ships at all and even the Kraits and Mamba were a bit superfluous, though. Hasn't stopped "more ships" being one of the big post-Odyssey feature requests.

It is actually least popular ship (or is it better to say "least owned") on INARA.
True, though any ship only recently made available would end up in that state to some extent, since anyone who quit three years ago obviously won't have it. It'll be interesting to see how much further it rises once it's generally available to Odyssey players.

Well, i meant in the context of medium ships.
Out of 16 medium ships, 10 are combat focused. And only 2 of the remaining 6 are rather combat inapt (T6 and AspS).
Out of the remaining 4, Phantom is a really mixed bag, it can be a really good explorer, but also a rather good combat ship

I'd really like to see a medium Imperial ship, focused on exploration/trade maybe and not on combat
Maybe another medium ship that can provide some competition for the Python in terms of trading/mission running - it's getting boring to have 3 Pythons in my hangar (cargo, mission runner, passenger runner) since it's the best medium ship at any of those respective activities.

The only (other) medium combat ship i would not really object would be an imperial, medium sized, heavy fighter.
(Yeap, the Empire could really use 2 new medium ships in its Fleet Inventory)

I've written before, I'll say it again. Forget about any new federation and empire ships, they require ranks to get them and so they can't be put up for ARXs.

Well maybe you could use arx to buy ranks ? That way I wouldn't worry as I have all the rank required and for all those who who don't but want everything now they can pay for their ranks ?

Way easier. Since you can just deploy ARX purchased ships, the rank requirement simply won't matter, except if you want to buy more than one later down the line.

Hmmm king or admiral prestige ranking ???🤦‍♂️🤣🤣... Maybe I should shut up it might be the one time Fdev actually listens

You forgot the Mamba, which was the Frag king before the P II.
Mamba is a boom-and-zoom speedster, not really a BFM ship. Quite niche and very different from FDL.

6 cheap medium combat ships (of which only Chief, Chally and FAS are really BFM capable), 3 premium combat mediums of which Mamba is not really built for BFM. Krait MKII is an odd one, multirole with good firepower and power distro but sluggish handling compared to Chief, FAS or FDL. The rest are multirole ships capable of combat, but not focused on it lacking the firepower, mobility and/or shield/armor.

So realistically: Chief, Chally, FAS, FDL, PII and to some extent Mamba that are dedicated medium dogfighters; both Kraits can hold their own but are not dedicated combat ships and so IMO don't count.

Type 8

I wonder what kind of fights you're talking about?
That I haven't seen duels where for example FAS and the same Chief participate for a long time ...

We shall see :)

edit: to me the T8 looks rather small and not really be able to carry 280+ tons of cargo, but as i said, we shall see
