Python or Type-9 help

If a Type-9 is good enough for Distant Worlds, it's good enough for anything!

I'm at Diaguandri and I cannot make my mind up over buying a Python, or the Type-9. I'm predominantly looking for a trade ship to start racking up the creds, but I don't want to be an absolute sitting duck that's constantly interdicted. The Type 9 looks great for trade but is it really practical?

Be be good to hear from those who have flown both

[Edit] I don't mind being interdicted so long as I have either run, or fight my way out of it options.

I would and did go for the python. I had a type 9 for a couple of days and absolutely hated it, so sold it and went back to my python (until I got an Annaconda). I much prefer the Python as you can fit it to be a trader with teeth. Sure its not as much of a money maker but at least its not like flying a brick through a sea of treacle and if interdicted, you don't have to run.

The thing is, if you get a Python, you will keep it, they are great multi purpose ships.

T9 for grinding credits.

As people said, find a 1 hop trade route that gives a good return per loop, and grind that for a few hours. 1 million or more credits per hop, and you'll be rolling in the credits.

At the very last second, just as I was about to hit the purchase button for the T9 my eldest son talked me into getting the Python - so now I have a shiny new Python (well it's not exactly shiny, all ships look old and second hand in this game;D))

Thanks everyone for the suggestions

Good last minute choice.

And with a python you can collect a few bounties which will go towards the difference you lose in trade difference.

I recommend waiting and buying a conda, 452 tonnes of cargo 15.8 ly fully layden and still have class 4 shield, 4 large pulse and some shield boosters, anything short of an elite conda that pulls me out of super ,dies.
