Python Vs Clipper

I'm another one approaching this dilemma .... had a clipper before but didn't enjoy the jump range.... but now i want a combat vessel .... so considering the clipper again .... whats the weapons of choice? pulse on the large and mc's onthe smaller?

Had C3G Beams and F2G Multies. Never had problems with that setup. Heat was quite easy to manage, at least pre 1.2 - dunno if heat behaviour has changed that much.

Clipper nerf has to be incomming. Its getting boring that this is the go to ship for everything. They seriously need a rebalance to these top end ships or things wilp get dull fast.

Clipper needs a speed nerf imo. Make it less easy to run which is its main draw.
No the clipper is fine especially now that the vulture and FDL are out. FDL plus chaff = clipper killer

Clipper all the way.

Just remember a fully A rated Clipper (With A7 shields) can and does take out every ship in game. It out runs everything and mass locks every ship up to a Type 9.

I hear people say that their Python can kill a clipper easily, but in tests which I have done with friends the Clipper strips the shields off a Python within seconds even if the Python is going backwards.

The only difference is 1 large hard point, and a lot of speed.

After long grinding eventually got clipper for myself. It is outfitted for trading. Yesterday took it to the nearest nav beacon, just to see how safe it is. Took down several smaller ships and one "master" anaconda (NPC), then engaged NPC elite python. Python was definitely built for fighting. It was very good at taking my shields down, however I was able to retreat, recharge and attack over and over again. I took his shields down and started to grind his hull. I didn't kill it ( had to go), but probably could. Once again, my ship kitted out for trading, not fighting. After all it is very nice ride, safe and very capable when fitted for the mission. Luv them both... each has its good and not so good characteristics. I started with the Python, then went to the Clipper. I missed the fire power of the Python but loved the speed of the Clipper. I hated the Clippers hard point location, but learned to manage it. I just fell in luv with the Clipper's elegance, possibly a weakness to some, but what a beautiful design.

I loved my clipper since I owned it.
The elegance, the speed, the sound. And the massive open canopy, especially with the rift a stunning sight.
I've used it to trade and a lot of combat on the side. Also tried some exploring, but the fuel tank is to small for this. Makes me nervouw when I hit a streak of brown dwarfs.
With just an A4 shield and 2x 2A shield cell banks it's good for most combat. For prolonged combat I swapped the A4 with A6 shields.
It's a wonderfull multi role vessel. It only drawback the big landing pad size.

But, with the 1.3 update I'm considering selling the clipper for a trade python and a combat courier.
I don't want to lose 1.6 mil each time I swap the 6A shield. So multi rolling will not be as obvious anymore.

This will alow me to haul more cargo and land on outposts in the python. And still being able to fly a classy gutamaya combat ship with a nice cockpit in the courier.

And this will give me a nice opportunity to change ships again. Time for something new!

It's the Clipper for me, but I suggest, when mixing thermal and ballistic weapons, to fit the thermals to the class2 hardpoints and the ballistics to the class3s because of their class1+2 damage penalty to larger targets.

I fight with 4 Pulses so I can stay in combat forever or until my 3 SCBs are drained.

The Python is slow and I don't like the design (same with Anaconda).
