The unfortunate aspect of forum based input is that many great questions go unanswered or just slip by unnoticed.
It would be great to have more frequent question and answer sessions with any of the game designers to address some of the existing concerns expressed by the players.
One thing that could be helpful for us is to get an idea of what the dev team has learned from 2015 (beyond the newsletter) , and what they plan on implementing in 2016, at the higher level. This isn't a request to respond to specific feature complaints, or a list of bug fixes.
In most ways, elite has become an intense and impressive technical achievement. To me, the astrophysical realism, procedural variation and physics are stellar. Beyond that though he most frequent requests that I've read are not a request for a new season of features but further development of the existing game. Many of these go unanswered or unacknowledged.
Personally, I'd like to see elite fleshed out with endless generated content beyond what we see now. It's a challenge but you created a galaxy and now it needs to be brought to life. What you've done with exploration is above and beyond fantastic. It's what keeps us jumping through thousands of systems in hopes of finding new sights and undiscovered systems.
Unfortunately for the core content of the game - what we do when we're not exploring - this feeling is missing. I know what to expect, I know what ships I can win a fight against. My character is an unknown, defined by only my ranking. I lack character development and I have to restrain my play time out of the fear that the PP, mission and RES site grind doesn't burn me out.
In such a large galaxy, the populated systems feel empty and lacking vibrance. The wonderment expected has been replaced with online get-rich recipes, trade tools and the sandbox's "undefined direction" is becoming increasingly defined in favor of guides that detail the optimal ways to fund your game play.
Can we see another Q&A session where the team can go into their thoughts on the community feedback, and further development of the existing game without low level discussions?
