Q-E or leaning left and right

"Advanced" is relative word. Especially if we compare game with CoD.

Like most shooters with leaning features.
So what?

We should let EDO stay like this?

Most of combat in EDO are in building environment - corners, boxes, corridors and rooms. And leaning feature is natural here.

By the way - NPCs take cover, like when their shield goes to zero - why they cannot fire from the corner?

You know, you defending primitiveness and featurelessness, when EDO should advance to be appealing.
If you don't know EDO aka Space Legs is more then just a shooter, you called EDO a shooter game. Many people I think maybe mistaken what to expect from EDO. Your are right about combat part in this game, with little more effort Fdev could have made combat little more "advanced". This DLC was from the beginning a way Frontier responded to many Cmdrs calls for space legs, how they did it and what they did, we all can see now and if not for all the bugs and performance issues I think most would be happy. My point is, this is not just a shooter game, it is also about freedom to move your Cmdr around. I think that was the main idea.
Btw...why don't you get your arss inside a ship and go somewhere out site settlements, get some fresh air or go visit a space station I heard Hutton Orbital is very nice this time of year, there is a festival there and you can win free Carrier.

The lean mechanic is good in a game where one or two shots can lead to death.

In a game with shields it doesn’t matter that much.

I had that thought too. The stealth mechanics work okay now for taking out unaware targets, but if you're already in a firefight in a corridor, your target almost surely has shields and a one-shot plasma kill from behind a corner just isn't likely to work. But also, my impression is that if you're having an extended firefight in a corridor, you're probably doing EDO wrong.

Why would you need to lean in a world where you have regenerating shields can jump-jet 30 feet upwards onto the roof of a building?

This is a wannabe Halo, not a wannabe ARMA.

Crysis was great. I'm a big fan of good FPS. ;)

Yeah... Crysis trilogy + DLCs were great. I approach Odyssey the same way I approached Crysis. I had a "Restore Power" mission that spawned 10 Scavenger NPCs. Using stealth and tactics, I took out all of them one by one, using my Plasma sniper rifle.

It was a waiting game, of course... as soon as I took out the first one, some of the other NPCs were allerted, but I stayed hidden... and once they didn't find me, they turned their shields off, rinse and repeat... just the way I played Crysis Trilogy. :)

EDIT: But back ontopic... regarding leaning.... I would say it could be a usefull thing to use to check around corners without being spotted by the NPCs... it should be a stealth mechanic and not a shooting mechanic.

it has guns 🤷 so sure it s a shooter… it has more plants than guns btw (FPScience FTW😝).
I mean, if we're taking definitions literally, the original 1984 Elite was a first person shooter (it was in first-person perspective and you shot things)

I don't think FPS is the genre Odyssey is closest to - it's Daggerfall with guns and I don't think the switch from magic to high-tech weapons makes it an FPS - but that doesn't mean that it can't have extra features from FPSes to improve the running around and shooting part of the game.
